Conversations with Kyree Ware

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyree Ware.

Hi Kyree, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Philadelphia P.A. where I currently reside now. My mother was the first to introduce me to video games. She brought me my first console on my birthday and ever since then I fell in love with video games. All throughout middle school and high school I played a copious seven hours a day, mainly Call Of Duty. I know it sounds crazy to be on the game for that long but when you are locked in, headset on, and playing a game you love the truth is time flies when you’re having fun. At around the age of 14, I started watching Call Of Duty esports and became a fan of the gaming scene and the platform created. It just gave me and countless other people all around the world a chance to escape where we live and interact with people we don’t know. Gaming allows you to make a connection and form a bond with someone by just “playing a video game”. All in all gaming really changed my life around especially where I come from it’s dangerous to be outside, getting on Call Of Duty was a get away from all the term oil going on in the streets of my neighborhood. Honestly without the “Game” I don’t know where I would be right now. During High School, I started an esports team called Centric Gaming with a group of friends. The majority of them lost passion for esports but I kept pursuing the dream of becoming a top esports team.

Unfortunately, my dream came to a stop in 2018 when my mother passed away from lung cancer. But one of founders for Centric Gaming Jahaiya Stricklen never lost sight of the dream I had to make Centric Gaming a top tier Org. He motivated me through the tough times I was going through talking to me daily, checking up on me making sure I was ok, welcomed me into his home, and made me feel like family. Even to this day, he always has stuck by my side. Around summer of 2020 NBA champion Dion Waiters and President of Centric Gaming Wilson M. Arroyo saw the dream and passion I had for esports. They trusted my skills and my vision as well as provided an amazing team that works so diligently with whatever we need to get done as an organization. Without them none of this would be possible. In the end of fall of 2020 Centric Gaming relaunched, we had 10,000 followers on every social media platform on launch day. I was pretty stoked about this since before that we only had 2,700 followers on most platforms before the launch. Everyday of my life, I am happy I never lost sight of my dream of esports come to fruition and making my mother proud with all the achievements that Centric Gaming will accomplish.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Coming from Philadelphia the struggle is real. There aren’t many successful people that make it out of where I come from in Philly. I want to be part of the 1%, meaning I don’t want to be stuck in my neighborhood all my life, I gotta make it out! Growing up, I just wanted to be different, with gaming many people thought it was a joke, waste of time, and an addiction. The list can go on. Although there were all those negatives, I never let it stop my passion for gaming, as I knew all the possibilities playing the game provided. One of reasons that I started Centric Gaming was to show people that you can be different by being yourself and you don’t have to follow what everyone around you is doing just stand out in your own way. In my case gaming and Centric as a whole was my way to stand out and be an outlier in my city. Gaming can be a career, a networking device, a lifestyle, and the list goes on.. Don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise. Our ALL IN merch collection symbolizes what it means to go through adversity and no matter how barbarous the circumstances are give it your all and you can overcome anything that stands in your path.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the founder of an esports and lifestyle organization called Centric Gaming. My job is to help oversee daily operations, review different business proposals to expand the brand, coordinate and set targets with the team, as well as providing guidance and assistance with our team members. We are mostly known as an esports organization but we are trying to expand to a lifestyle org too. I’m mostly proud of Centric Gaming and how well we are doing for only being in the scene for really just about two months. I’m blessed to be surrounded by such a great team on a daily basis. What sets us apart is we have so many ethnicities in our core, from players to staff that live in Europe, South America, and the United States. We also want to give young people an opportunity to create something great out of their lives while doing something they love, which in this case is gaming. Meaning we want to provide a platform for them to grow and get noticed by big name people all throughout the world and make a career out of gaming.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Growth takes time nothing happens overnight.
