Conversations with the Inspiring Maggie Mullin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie Mullin.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Maggie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, I’m actually originally from Chicago and about two and half years ago, I was living on my own, graduated from college, and decided I wanted to make the big move to Los Angeles. I can honestly say I was never nervous about moving to LA by myself because I was just too excited about starting a new chapter in my life. I always wanted to live here and knew it was where I was eventually meant to be.

After living here for about a year, I realized I had a good eye for photography and I created my blog and developed a love for taking pictures and traveling. I could travel every week if I could! Living in LA, there are so many places to visit, restaurants to try, and nature to explore and I love being able to share that with my followers. I definitely have a hard time sitting still! I’m always trying to explore new things and I think that’s how my social media became such a hobby.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There definitely has been some struggles. Trying to learn how to build a website while working a full-time job is no easy task! Most people hire someone to build and design their blogs but I knew I could do it myself – and for a lot cheaper at that. I’m a HUGE planner, like, it’s not even normal. My friends think I’m crazy because I plan out every week down to the hour – but it works for me! I was able to build my blog in less than a month because I planned it all out. I also wake up really early every day, yes, even on weekends. I think this helps a lot as well. I swear I get twice as much done then if I had slept in! I think my biggest advice to anyone starting a new journey would be to not be afraid to step outside of their comfort zone. You will never grow unless you are uncomfortable. Talk to strangers, network, make new friends, just don’t be afraid to go outside your norm. My whole life the past 2 years has been outside of my comfort zone but that’s what has made me who I am now and given me some incredible experiences.

What should we know about What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I love my blog and being able to share my pictures and experiences on social media. It’s pretty much California based and I share a lot of my content on Instagram and Snapchat as well. I like that I don’t have to fit into a specific niche either! I share everything from amazing restaurants to the best hiking spots to a new city I’m traveling to. I think most bloggers only stick to one category but my life isn’t one category and I wanna share other aspects as well. I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately on fitness and makeup tips, so I’ll probably start posting about that as well. Maybe, I’ll start doing videos and tutorials… we’ll see!

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
My biggest advice for networking is again, put yourself out there! Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone you don’t know or approach someone on the street. Depending on what you are trying to network in, I would explore that and find what works best for you. Social media is a great way to connect with other people. Whatever you are interested in there is probably a social media page or app for it. Networking through friends or acquaintances is also an easy way to meet new people in your field. I’ve met a lot of great influencers just through my friends or friends of friends.
