Conversations with the Inspiring Larysa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Larysa.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a photographer from Ukraine. I started taking pictures six years ago. From the beginning it was like a hobby, then I realized that it was tightening me and photography became my main business in my life. All my life I loved drawing, especially portraits of people. It all started with pictures on paper and I realized that it takes up a lot of space and a huge number of tools accumulated. And I decided to improve my work in digital form. All the paper, brushes and pencils were now placed in one program on the computer. But this did not suit me, and in 2012 I bought my first camera. I realized that I want to show people all the beauty in photography. There is nothing more beautiful than the sealed moment. Photography is what brings us back to remembering and the feelings that were going on at that time. I want you to see yourself as you are through the lens of my camera. So you can share these moments with the whole world. I studied on my own. All knowledge was obtained from books, magazines, articles and the Internet. At the same time I studied retouching photos. I consider these two mutually complementary processes and it needs to be trained at the same time. A year and a half ago I moved to Los Angeles, and here I continue to photograph, and now I continue to find new interesting people who inspire me to new achievements.

Has it been a smooth road?
At the time when I decided to take pictures, I had a permanent job with a permanent income. It was difficult to give up everything to start my own business. But I decided and did not regret. There is nothing better than to follow your dream. When you really want it, it will be all right.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Photographer Laura story. Tell us more about the business.
I like to photograph people, especially portraits. Portrait shots carry a soul. I spend studio photo shoot, shooting model portfolios, advertising photography, photo shoots for magazines, as well as working with people who have no experience of being photographed.

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
I think that in such a field of activity as a photographer, a woman is very easy to realize herself, despite the great competition.
