Conversations with the Inspiring Crisanto Jr Banuelos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crisanto Jr Banuelos.

Crisanto Jr, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Known as JrelArtist, I went to beauty school about 11 yrs ago right after high school. Due to being ill at the time, Did not have enough time to finish cosmo school. I continued doing makeup and always practicing on my best friend. Working retail after retail from fast food to high end retail. I landed a job in Sephora where I was given the opportunity to learn and grown as an artist. My work ethic and personality opened doors I never imagined. I began to freelance while working, soon enough I started making tv appearances and working on set with my now best friend Kristinia Debarge, double platinum recording artist and actress who opened up for Britney Spears for the circus tour in 2009. She opened the door for me for tv while being on the current hit show growing up hip hop… which led me to many more opportunities. Networking has also played a big role in my career. There was no handout for me or much support from anyone to guide me… In this industry you either know people or you figure out your own path along the way & make it work. Amongst make up & hair. I am an artist overall. I plan to continue growing with the beauty industry, but also getting back into music and film & possibly releasing music this year to beginning of 2021. In the near future, I see myself establishing a business. That will open more doors and give back to the community the same opportunities that once where given to me.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In today’s world, Society has made everyone think there’s a specific guide or handout. As to who we should be and what we should be doing. Although there’s been many struggles along the way, There has been many blessings also. My main struggle I would say was not following my heart and caring what others had to say. From the most minimal support to everyday life and figuring out my purpose. I was always told to stick to one thing that I couldn’t do everything and be all over the place. Mind you, I’ve accomplished so much of my goals & dreams from childhood already. I’ve been doing some background acting. Being on some the best hit shows. Swat, 911, shameless, etc. I’ve traveled places I never new o would meet. But nothing is perfect nor am I.

Currently heading into my second knee surgery. Which has set me back a few time from opportunities due to surgery & recovery. No matter what I push through and make the best of it while I’m able to live. To all the women out there and any human being that’s barely starting their journey, Don’t give up. There is no manual. There is only you and what you believe in. You’re true self and the heart that follows. Don’t let society fool you. Every opportunity is an opportunity. It is up to take any risk that we believe will take us to the next level. What I mean by that is, don’t let nothing pass you by. Because there will always be someone willing to work harder than you and want it more. Believe and never lose hope.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am known for my beauty skills & techniques, & the ability to make anyone feel beautiful and happy about themselves inside and out. I believe in enhancing everyone’s natural features & bringing out their true beauty.

My main specialty is make up, I am so proud to be able to inspire & support others. Help build and grow with one another, Specially up and coming artist that reach out and are willing to learn from me.

My personality and well being for others is what sets me apart. The want for everyone around me to be successful and part of the process. To teach and inspire others. Without expecting anything in return.

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
I think women are currently leading. There are many positions open. As well as opportunities to fight for, but we must fight together. I believe we need to start treating this world as humans and allowing everyone who wants to succeed a given opportunity no matter the position. I don’t think there should be a specific position. Everyone should be allowed any opportunity, as long as they are willing to work hard for it.
