Today we’d like to introduce you to Czar Scott.
Hi Czar, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I go by Czar Scott (The C is Silent) I am a songwriter and emcee. I was born in Brockton, Massachusetts, I lived in the Bay Area (NorCal) for a bit after high school, but I was really raised out here in SoCal. Between the moving as a youth and my family originally being from Philadelphia, my outlook on things has always been fairly different than most of my peers. My mother was a singer, my father is a footwear industry success story (known unknown, developed a lot of classic kicks) and I have (creatively) gifted older siblings. Being the baby and soaking up all of that awesomeness, I had to do something… Although I wasn’t the best student growing up, I always had a knack for creative writing, considering the love for music ran in the blood. It was ALMOST a seamless transition from trying to be an undersized point guard (insert sarcasm) Don’t get me wrong, Ball is still life analogously but, I got a little more inspired by the way Tupac or Chuck D delivered thought-provoking messages while still maintaining the quality of the music. My parents were born in the 1960s, crate digging is a constant. In which would explain how my music sounds, I guess… I truly do it for the love…
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Between finding my way as an independent artist, finances, relationships (whether it be personal or business) and actually perfecting my craft. The last thing this ride has been is smooth. I go out of my way to try to be the artist that I would be a fan of. That being the case, I can’t ALWAYS do what would be considered the “in” thing to do. Trying to build from that standpoint alone is enough to make this thing a little bit much.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a songwriter and hip hop artist/ emcee or rapper if you don’t want to get all pretentious about it. I just released my debut album The C Is Silent: No Disrespect back in January, which you can imagine had already opened some doors for me as far as building my brand. I have also done a lot of work Loved One(z) Entertainment (production company) alongside Loyal XI, IVth Kind, Zo Fontanez, and Lil Kee. I consider myself a songwriter primarily, I genuinely enjoy collaborating with other artists and producers that actually have so form of creative direction. Some people would say I have somewhat of an “old school” sound. I just try to make what sounds good to me while trying to be SOMEWHAT thought-provoking. When you think of Czar Scott, I want my music to be a main thought.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
