Today we’d like to introduce you to Christy Lynn.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
First, I’ve been in business since 2010. Starting out as a young high school graduate just trying to pursue my dreams of being a top hair artist. Over the course of eleven years, I have built a clientele that I could only imagine. Though my career didn’t start out this way, I am happy to say time worked in my favor! In 2018, I got connected to my first professional athlete. And from there the magic began! One player after another from the Los Angeles Rams was being serviced by me. Little oh me from Moreno Valley ca. At 16, I made a YouTube video telling the world who I was and what I was going to become! And just about 15 years later, look at me now! All it took was someone to trust in my craft and open the right doors. And that door opened in 2019 when my client, who now plays for the Seattle Seahawks, text me and said “are you ready for that clientele you said you want!” I said yes! And when I arrived at the location he then informed me I would be servicing him and A major artist! I was so excited but so nervous at the same time! The little girl in me was screaming for joy and just amazed at my progress in what seemed so little time to me.
Over the next year, I acquired clients from all over including the NBA! It wasn’t long before I was flying across the country to service my clients on different NFL teams. It’s a dream come true. Everything isn’t glitter and gold all the time though. Flights get delayed or you could just fall ill and can’t make a flight to a client. Those moments can get to you, but remaining strong in your passion will help! In 2020 the pandemic hit and I was so afraid I would lose the clients I worked so hard to gain. I took about a month off and started a skincare line called Xzhalebeautyllc. About a week later, I got a call from one of my clients who is a rapper and was like we need you! So I prepared myself Mask on, gloves and all, I showed up! Once I arrived, I worked for hours and then days later I got another call and those same calls kept coming! Now in 2021 and I and fully booked with clients in the NFL, NBA and major Recording artist! One thing is for sure I love what I do and I am grateful for the experiences they have brought about. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. This is only the beginning!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
For the most part, it has been such a smooth ride. Some days can be extremely long. One moment you’re working at the shop and the next, your being called to a work on a video shoot for major artist! And those nights are extremely long after a while you forget what time it is. Some other challenges working in a male-dominated field. You have to stand your ground and that means whatever you want it to mean good or bad. But you want to be safe and make sure you are always making the right choices. I always remember what my mom says “all money ain’t good money” and “everything thing that glitters ain’t gold!”
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
LA knows me best as Christy Lynn hair artist! The barber and or stylist to the stars! With specializing in multiple areas, I have been able to dominate in my field. I specialize in clipper cuts, braids, Locs, twist, color and I also provide hair replacement units for men! So if your balding, I’m the girl you need to see. I am most proud of the woman I have become over the course of my career. Starting out as a young girl and now 30 living out my dreams is amazing. Most of the people I service I could only see on tv prior! But now when I turn on my tv, I can see my hairstyles and cuts.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
The best thing I can share with the readers is to enjoy your job but don’t get swept up in it! What I mean by that is don’t let the lifestyle go to your head. Remember to remain humble and remember your not the Star of the show. But you are in charge of making the vision come alive! So do your job play your part. But remember to show your personality because you never know what door can open next. I have a passion to make people feel better on the outside while trying to help beautify what is also inside of them.
