Conversations with Blanca Ocegueda

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blanca Ocegueda.

Hi Blanca, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I moved to The Valley a little over ten years ago from the SF Bay Area for college and ended up staying here once I graduated. I’ve always wanted to be my own boss and have my own business, I just couldn’t quite get it right. I thought I wanted to pursue my photography passion but soon after a few events, I realized that I wanted to keep that as a hobby and something sacred to me. I then thought that maybe I would try corporate America and realized that I wouldn’t last long. I mentioned to my partner that I felt like I needed a change but didn’t know where to even begin looking. I was already in the field I had gone to school for and loved and thought I wanted to be in for the rest of my life. He told me that I should start building toward the goal I’ve had since I was a kid, to have my own wellness center. I had no idea where to begin and definitely had not seen the potential that he saw but decided to give it a try. I ended up quitting my job, which was terrifying, to give full focus on starting my business. Experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic and everything that came along with it with the rest of the world definitely reminded me of what I truly want and the legacy that I am leaving behind. It took many trials and errors to figure out how to start up. One of our close friends thought he had gotten sick with COVID and reached out as I have been recommending many natural remedies.

It hit me as I prepared his wellness kit that I needed to do something about bringing awareness to the magic that Mother Earth offers. I want to share my knowledge of the healing powers nature possess, bring back the knowledge that was passed down to me from my ancestors. That’s how I would begin, teaching and sharing. I ran into my friend Abby out in the community and told her my plans for starting my business. She owns Cafe Aficionado in Northridge and offered us to use the coffee shop’s space to set up a pop-up. That’s where I started at her coffee shop, the love and support that I received from my community is astonishing! It is because of their love and support that I have an online presence on Instagram and have now been invited to other outdoor markets and pop-ups all over the county. My business has taken off in ways I didn’t even know was possible! I have been expanding and growing at a great pace and I am beyond grateful to be where I am today. I would have never imagined when I first moved here that I would survive trials and obstacles and go on to be a successful business owner, I don’t think I would have believed you if you would have told me. The great thing about all this is that this is only the beginning. This is the first step in me achieving my childhood dream.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a free-flowing road if that makes sense. Yes, I have encountered many obstacles but I have been able to surpass them and keep flowing. I would say the hardest obstacle that I am constantly working on is the deprogramming that comes with fully submerging yourself into being a business owner. All I have ever known was school and having to work for someone else, so when I decided to start my business, I felt a lot of guilt because I had been conditioned that was how life was supposed to be. At first, it was really hard for me to enjoy my mornings and doing things for myself instead of working. I have to constantly remind myself that I made this choice so I can do things for myself and my family and enjoy them.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in making all-natural organic overall wellness products. I never thought to make a business of this because these are things that I have always done for myself. I have always been intrigued in going the natural route. I currently make Organic body butters, Organic sugar scrubs, Organic bath salt soaks, shower vapor disks and I dry herbs and fruits to make a dried herbal respiratory steam. I take pride in the fact that all of my products are made with all-natural organic ingredients. Everything comes from mother earth, she has made it possible for me to thrive as it all comes from her. I believe that is what sets me apart because all of my ingredients are natural almost all of my products have five ingredients or less. I make sure to hand-select the best products to provide my customers with the best possible.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I am open to collaborations! It’s always so much fun working with another creative to come up with something magical. I can be reached via email at or on Instagram ( I am currently finishing up my website where people will be able to check out my products and where the next pop-up will be. So far, we have attended a few all over the county and are looking to expand to other cities.
