Community Highlights: Meet Tiffany Wesley of Pure Vibes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Wesley.

Hi Tiffany, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Pure Vibes was created in 2013 out of personal necessity. I was 23 and just beginning to master my adult life somewhat and needed to take control of my health. I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) a hormonal condition that required that I adapt a dairy & gluten-free lifestyle. I began to search for gluten-free and vegan skincare and lifestyle products and at that time there were very few products in the market. So Pure Vibes became what I needed but clean and gluten free products wasn’t enough. PCOS can contribute to anxiety and depression due to the hormonal imbalance so I had to create something that not only helped me live well but feel well also and that was achieved by studying the power of scent and essential oils and when paired with natural ingredients you could create the Pure Vibe you needed or desired.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Pure Vibes journey was not an easy one for sure. I went through several variations of the company trying to perfect my business model. There were also times in which My PCOS would get the best of me and not to mention the difficulty in trying to fund the business and not always having the means to do so. I eventually gained the courage to continue when I saw that the products were helping with my two years old eczema and hearing the feedback of other women suffering with PCOS having success with our products by it eliminating body acne and the difference the aromatherapy effects was having on their mood.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Pure Vibes?
Pure Vibes LLC is a worker-owned cooperative that creates essential wellness products, including handmade artisan soaps and aromatherapy goods that elevate our customers and our community by creating equity and ownership that impacts and sustains the people, community and planet. Pure Vibes was a direct need for Tiffany Wesley after being diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), a hormonal condition that makes you insulin resistant, causes anxiety and depression and skin issues such as acne. So Tiffany began to search for vegan and gluten free products to incorporate into her everyday life and with little options in the market she created Pure Vibes a skincare brand created would help her live well and feel well. In 2019, Tiffany took some time to fine tune her vision for Pure Vibes and was prepared and well-positioned during the Pandemic. The increase and demand for natural hygiene products hit an all-time high. Pure Vibes is focused not only on providing the best natural and organic products in the health and beauty industry but is committed to social impact and community growth as well which is why the company was converted into worker owned Cooperative. A worker cooperative is owned and operated by those who work for the company in a path to ownership. So not only does Pure Vibes create essential products, create jobs but we also create equity and ownership in our community.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is waking up every Saturday and going thrifting with my grandmother. During those Saturdays, we talked a lot about what I wanted to do in life and the type of woman I would become and I believe this memory is a direct link to my ambition and drive in seeing Pure Vibes succeed.
