Community Highlights: Meet Sophia Rybicki of Rybmediapro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophia Rybicki.

Hi Sophia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I remember bits and pieces of my early childhood years. I remember that my mom worked a lot so I’d spend my days at my grandma’s house. She taught me how to read and write. Before I’d go to sleep. I’d ask her if she could tell me a story. My grandma would tell me a story. She would write stories just for me to tell me at night. I’d write stories to tell her. That’s where my storytelling originated from. I use the elements as a photographer to tell stories.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been pretty bumpy. Growing up, I’ve always been really shy and hardly talked. I was just that shy. It’s been a challenge to grow out of being a shy timid girl. I still struggle with it from time to time. Going to the Art Institute trying to get my film degree. The school ended up being forced to close from lawsuits. Finding another college willing to accept my credits. Cbu. Honestly, this was the last school I wanted to go to. I didn’t want to go to a Christian school. I was already in debt from AI. I was scared of going back to college. I don’t know how but I got into CBU without needing to take out any more loans. I finished my three years without the need of taking a student loan. I look back and think about the way the path was aligned and I am thankful for attending cbu. I’m navigating my own little photography business now. It’s a challenge but in a good way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Rybmediapro?
Rybmediapro specializes in photography and videography. I do mainly portraits of families, couples, pets. I also do travel portraits too, I’ve always been able to sit outside and be at peace with the sounds of nature. I love incorporating it into my sessions. I’m most proud of inspiring people and sharing people’s stories. Each person has a special story to tell.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Any good luck that has been played out in life. I feel like my grandma is watching over me and guides me. When I feel I’m at a loss and wanting to give up, I try to tell myself to give it one more try or one more day. Sometimes good luck strikes and sometimes the day is better than yesterday and it gives me peace of mind. I’m so thankful for having the opportunity to have good fortune.
