Community Highlights: Meet Patrice Sylvain Dawson of Adele Larose Cosmetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrice Sylvain Dawson.

Hi Patrice, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was always fascinated with makeup since the age of 11. I would always be the one who would do everyone’s Makeup and Hair. In 2013, I began to create a professional career on Makeup Artistry. I took my first Makeup Class with Last Looks Makeup Academy based in Los Angeles but I attended the class in Houston, TX for two weeks. I learned a lot but still felt I needed more education so I enrolled in the Touch Makeup Academy in Houston, TX. It was an intense three months program. I really learned a whole lot about products and techniques for various skin types and skin tones. I had the experience but I still felt I needed to learn more. I moved to Los Angeles in 2016 and enrolled in the Michael Vincent Academy in 2017. It was very intense and I gained a lot of knowledge and experience here. I got the opportunity to work with models with various Skintones and I even got the opportunity to work as an Assistant Makeup Artist on a music video. I also got the opportunity to do an internship with a Makeup Artist assisting her on an infomercial. I have been operating my own Makeup Studio since 2017. I have been having the dream of starting my own cosmetics line for years. We just launched our cosmetics line in April 2022. The name Adele Larose was derived from my middle name Adele and my maternal grandmother’s maiden name of Larose. This is the evolution of Adele Larose Cosmetics. We cater to all everyone. Our Philosophy is “Everyone wants to be and Deserves to be Beautiful.”

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some struggles I have encountered were finding a good website creator and a good photographer to photography products. I did find an awesome website creator and an amazing photographer for my products. I found the website creator on Instagram and the photographer via Google.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I am definitely a risk-taker. I have taken a major risk starting to Cosmetics line and opening my Studio. That can be scary. You’re afraid that no one will come because they don’t know who you are and so on. I believe in order to become successful one has to take risks.
