Community Highlights: Meet Julian Talens of Movementality

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian Talens. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Founded by Julian Talens in 2020, the idea of Movementality LLC stemmed from the roots of Julian’s health journey. Having struggled with weight and body image amongst the misinformation of fitness plaguing the world, he gained a hunger for improvement that was soon met with strength and conditioning. What began as a growth mindset later became a brand for the community.

Fast forward to today, Movementality LLC now serves the artist-athlete (though anyone is welcome to join in on the fun) and educates them on how to not only prevent injury, but increase their performance quality, longevity, balance, and mental health.

Julian Talens holds a B.S. Kinesiology, NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist and is the co-founder of The GOOD Project Dance Company having directed it for five years. He was a trainer at 24 Hour Fitness, but due to COVID-19, his time was cut short. This ultimately led him to finding his true passion: training and educating dancers. With the help of his assembled team of passionate artist-athletes, Movementality came to fruition.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. Being a dancer turned personal trainer has had its trials and tribulations and still does to this day. Running a business is not easy, and running a saturated business that is considered to be a luxury in this economic climate is proving to be the toughest challenge yet.

The main struggle is maintaining a positive mindset in times of low or no profit; being able to see past the current struggle. What’s helped me get through it is the support of my friends, family, and fiancé. No empire is built alone and I’m very thankful to have this support system that I have.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Originally as a personal training business for dancers, Movementality LLC has turned into an all-inclusive training business that focuses on making fitness accessible to anyone and everyone. Our goal is to help people make fitness a lifestyle, and show that the gym is not as intimidating as it seems. Everyone deserves to live a healthier life and we believe strength training is the best way to get there.

I personally specialize in turning fitness into a habit, teaching people how to properly workout, and making sure that each client adopts a self-development mindset.

I truly believe these specializations are what sets my business apart from other training businesses. Everyone talks about turning fitness into a lifestyle, but no one talks about actual actionable steps to the level of detail that we do. I am proud to say that we will take anybody in and teach them how to live better versions of their lives.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
For me, the ability to learn and grow. I may not be the most outstanding performer from the beginning, but you can bet I will do everything it takes to learn and become one.
