Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaclyn DeDonato.
Jaclyn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
For the majority of my life, I was the follower of all followers. I took on other people’s interests, I joined all the sports teams even though all I wanted to do was dance, I mistook other people’s dreams for my own. Then when I got older, I followed my friends to the cities they wanted to live in. got the corporate job, started climbing the ladder, and numbed out on the weekends because that’s what I thought I was supposed to do. It wasn’t until my late 20’s that I started to hear the whispers of my soul for the first time. I had this aching feeling that there was something missing from my life. That feeling leads me to booking my first solo trip to Costa Rica. This trip was the first time I had done something for myself without seeking approval from anyone. The first time I had done something that no one else around me was doing. After that trip, I became obsessed with figuring out how I could travel long-term. I decided to save every penny, sold everything I owned, and bought a one way ticket to Nicaragua. I spent close to a year traveling through 14 countries by myself and did exactly what I wanted from the moment I woke up to when I went to bed at night. I was finally in touch with who I was and what I truly desired in life. When I came home from that trip, I quickly hopped back into the corporate world. I thought that if I just found a job in health and wellness (my passion at the time), then all of my problems would be solved. I was very wrong, haha. That year was the most depressed I had ever been. My soul felt trapped in my corporate jail cell once again, I was having all kinds of health issues, panic attacks, and my weekly therapy sessions weren’t helping.
When I reflect on it now, this was actually a spiritual awakening that put me on my path. The universe will start throwing pebbles at you to get your attention, but when you don’t listen those pebbles turn into boulders. This spiritual awakening was my boulder. I decided to do something drastic and once again bought a one way ticket but this time it was to Guatemala (my favorite country). My intention was to live there and really figure myself out once and for all. I immediately felt relief when I got there but knew I still had some internal work to do. I enrolled in a spiritual business program to help get my health coaching business off the ground at the time. This program was very rooted in self-love which was the real medicine my soul was seeking. In just four months, I noticed how everything in my world started to shift. I was the most confident I had ever been in my life, I attracted my soulmate (after being single for ten years), I lost weight, and I felt like I had discovered a superpower that I wanted to share with the world. I realized that guiding women back home to themselves was my soul purpose that had been trying to come through all along. I struggled with self-love so deeply because it was living the curriculum I was about to teach. And now, my self-love coaching business has become an extension of who I am. The lessons I move through become the foundation I teach on.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has definitely not been smooth, haha! My spiritual awakening was my biggest struggle along the way, but without it, I wouldn’t have taken action to change my circumstances. As humans, pain is our biggest motivator so I’m able to look at that time in my life and see how important it was. It changed the entire trajectory of where I was headed. It helped me to finally choose ME.
Self-love was also a huge struggle. I let people walk all over me, I didn’t have a voice, and there wasn’t much about my life that was working. This has been my favorite struggle because it’s a part of my purpose. It’s what I teach to other women.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Live Well by Jaclyn?
As a self-love coach, my mission is to help women love themselves unconditionally so that they can thrive in every area of life. I believe that everything flows from the extent to which we love ourselves so when we feel safe to be who we really are and when we know our intrinsic worth, our whole outer world starts to shift. By stepping into self-love, my clients have attracted their soulmate, uncovered their purpose, lost weight, reignited their sex drive, reclaimed their power, and have created their happiest, most fulfilled life. This work, more than anything else, is a remembrance. It’s coming back home to who you really are so that you can experience life from the soul rather than ego. Witnessing my clients go through this transformation is that greatest gift I get to receive. We’re all just walking each other home.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
When I think of my favorite childhood memories, they all involve camping with my grandparents. I remember running around the campground in my tutu and black tights feeling so free to be my goofy little self. My grandpa taught me how to fish and my grandma taught me how to waterski. Even as a child, I remember how alive everyone felt on these trips. Truly soul-giving.
