Community Highlights: Meet Gregory Masi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Masi.

Hi Gregory, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was a graduate student at UCLA studying for my Ph. D. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences when the computer model that was generating data for my research hit a snag and needed to be re-run. During the pause in my research, I decided to pursue my real estate license and that journey took on a life of its own. I started doing real estate on the side while I was continuing my studies at UCLA but felt myself more drawn toward my real estate ventures as opposed to my climate studies research. I continued to build my business, and here I am nearly 16 years later, still selling real estate across all of Los Angeles.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building any business has its own ups and downs. When I initially started in the business, I was young. I felt my age was an obstacle to building trust with clients who are trusting you to manage one of their biggest assets. I came from a math and science background, which is vastly different than real estate and business building, so I had a steep learning curve to overcome, but that challenge is part of what drives me to succeed. I love setting milestones for myself and my business, hitting the goal, and then setting new ones so that I am always growing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Gregory Masi Group?
Because of my math and science background, I am naturally inclined to solve problems. I’ve learned that in real estate, closing deals requires a lot of problem-solving. Unexpected hiccups reveal themselves in every escrow, and clients turn to their realtor for guidance and solutions. Through the years, I know that my clients have faith in me to get them over those hurdles and trust that I always have their best interests in mind. My goal is to build long-term, lifelong relationships with my clients so they always feel comfortable coming back to me for their real estate needs. Oftentimes, that means challenging my clients with difficult questions that make them really dig deep about whether or not they are making the right decision for themselves. It is important to me that I do my best to force my clients to look at the decision from every angle, so they can move forward confidently.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I am a complete weather nerd. Although I am not actively working in atmospheric science, it remains my passion. I am a meteorologist by education, so I am always looking at the latest forecast models to predict the weather. Sometimes, when I see a big storm is headed toward the Sierra Nevada, I pack up my car and drive up before it arrives just so I can witness heavy snow. I love all sorts of crazy weather, from hurricanes and thunderstorms to blizzards and tornadoes. Oh, and I’m obsessed with my adorable 7lb fluffy white Persian cat named Ethel.
