Community Highlights: Meet Giselle Baumet of The Parenting Alchemy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giselle Baumet.

Giselle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My beautiful herbalist mother raised me in the Dominican Republic, and she did the best she could and most certainly better than how she was raised. She introduced me to spirituality and magic yet lacked the parenting skills to know how to raise me with a healthy, secure attachment. I have so much grace for my mother because even though I experience trauma as a child, I always knew my mother was doing the best she knew to do. She had an unloving childhood and came into motherhood with generational trauma.

So, when I had my first child 16 years ago, I knew I wanted to parent differently, but I did not know how to make that happen. All I knew was that to connect with my inner parenting wisdom, I’d have to tune into my ancestors through instinctual and natural mothering. I’d have to go back to my ancestors’ wisdom before colonization and heal my generational trauma.

I began heavily researching various parenting styles to find one that aligned in mutual respect between parent and child, in the parent being a mentor and guide. And while I found positive parenting and non-violent communication classes and workshops, I could not find classes that helped me with reparenting and healing my inner child.

I was able to use positive parenting tools but still never felt complete. It wasn’t until years later and through spiritual healers that I learned what I needed the most, which was reparenting and healing my inner child. That’s really when parenting transitioned for me and became a sacred journey where I grew as an individual while (and through) parenting my children.

Eventually, I opened a community gathering space and store (Granola Babies) for holistic-minded parents that also wanted to raise their children with kindness and respect.

During the ten years I own Granola Babies, I built large communities where parents were able to receive classes and support for the very things I needed when I was a new parent.

Eventually, I became a Connection-Based Parenting Educator, Transpersonal Hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Practitioner, Energy Worker, Somatic Healer, Perinatal Mental Health Specialist, Life Coach, and Birth Professional.

In 2017, I closed Granola Babies to focus solely on parent education and support. And today, through The Parenting Alchemy™, I share my medicine by helping parents raise good human beings in confidence and wholeness using connection-based parenting solutions and inner-child self-healing techniques.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Going from teaching in a physical community space to offering all my services virtually definitely had its challenges. The pandemic changed everything. I was so used to showing up in person and building an energetic connection with my students. It felt authentic and flowing. My classes were always full.

But, when I had to turn my classes into virtual classes because of the pandemic, I struggled to show up authentically and build a connection with my clients. I felt very self-conscious talking to a screen, and on top of that, I thought it was going to be impossible to turn some of my classes into online courses.

I also had my four children with me with no help at home, as I’m a single mother. Between that and not knowing how to show up virtually, I decided to focus on my children and help them transition during the pandemic. It took me a year to finally make active movement on pivoting my business during the pandemic.

Eventually, I converted my in-person classes into online courses and began to show up on my social media platforms and virtual classes as my true self. I decided to niche my business even more by focusing on what I felt was most helpful to parents, which was learning how to parent from the inside out. It was then that my business was able to rise through the pandemic, but now with a lot more flexibility and engagement with my clients.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Parenting Alchemy?
At The Parenting Alchemy™, I honor the fact that our ancestors naturally practiced conscious parenting. Our birthright is to parent with confidence through practical parenting solutions that bring a stronger connection between parent and child and inner-child self-healing techniques that break cycles and generational trauma.

I’m here to help parents reclaim their confidence and clarity in parenting as they raise good human beings.

While most parenting approaches focus on only giving parenting solutions (that still leave you frustrated), I start with understanding yourself, allowing you better to understand your child in a whole new way and transform your parenting.

Offerings include:

+ Parent Community Subscription provides four live (virtual) workshops each month and 1:1 Parent Coaching support.

+ Mindful Birth and Postpartum Education Course covering everything parents-to-be need to know to birth their baby and feel great about their birth experience, as well as holistic postpartum care.

+ Dads Arising is a private course and coaching program for new dads to learn what their child needs to build a strong connection.

+ How to Raise Children that are Anti-Racism teaches parents what to do and say to raise children that are anti-racist.

+ Inner Healing for Parents is a 1:1 program where parents receive the support and holistic healing for their inner child.

I also offer two free workshops – How to Teach Your Child Emotional Regulation and Self-Healing Techniques for Calmness in Parenting.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I often get asked by others (who want to do similar work to what I’m doing or open a different business) what they need to do to begin and grow. And my answer is always the same — build community. You must be able to prove your concept within your community. Be willing to give to your community, add value, and be authentic and vulnerable with them.
