Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Brown Jr.
Hi Eric, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Originally from Virginia but now lives and trains in-person and virtually from his Los Angeles location. – learned about health and fitness through education and the hard way (trial and error). I’ve played sports for most of my life – so that’s where my discipline comes from. Started Training in 2015 part-time and then went full time with it as a career in 2018. Started competing in 2016 and turned pro in 2017.
Training for me has always been my way of connecting with people. That’s when I started to realize it was more than just weights and eating “healthy” I’ve seen so many changes in clients from how they view themselves to how they think and certainly how they look. Seeing clients achieve goals that they didn’t believe they could is one of the greatest feelings. It also keeps me accountable for what I do as I try to practice what I teach to them.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wish! It’s been a tough road from injuries. Torn a tendon in my knee and was told the possibility of me training let alone running normal again was out. A lot of self-doubt and struggles along the way with lack of clients in the beginning, it was tough! It really made it hard to stay motivated. Through that period of time, it was my clients that got me through it. Seeing them push the limits and work hard day in and day out no matter their experience level. Made me realize that I really had no excuse to not get back to where I was.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My mentor(s) are typically the people I train with that have been in the industry longer than I have so I look to them for guidance. Networking is just as important as I personally think in goes hand and hand with a mentor. It allows you to be able to build your brand and get the word of mouth out there. Networking has been HUGE in why I’m able to retain/gain clients during a pandemic. Building solid relationships with clients or people you see in general is huge when building a business with no corporate backing…integrity too
