Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Koraca.
Elizabeth, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
17 years ago, I left my homeland of Toronto, Canada, abandoning the beginnings of a promising career in politics after a stint as a policy advisor to a cabinet minister with the Ontario government. I headed to New York City to fulfill a dream of becoming an on-air reporter.
When I arrived, my dogged enthusiasm was met with a barrage of rejection and criticism: “You’re not good enough.” “You don’t have the right experience.” I was told whenever I interviewed for a position.
The dismissals mounted, and my enthusiasm waned. It was a painful blow for me as I had always been tenacious in pursuing career goals.
Soon, I got a big on-air break with a job in the Bronx. Not long after, I was offered the position of financial TV journalist at Reuters. It was the beginning of an auspicious career, managing a team and overseeing direct reports for the Reuters/Chinese Central Television (CCTV) business partnership.
After Reuters, I launched my own coaching practice, working with clients from Google, Facebook, Square, Pfizer, Activision and many more. Today, I leverage the skills I gained as a TV anchor and the formal education I gained through professional coaching programs to empower people across industries to take charge of their careers, grow their revenue, expand their client base, and shed personal insecurities.
I continue to work in television as a TV contributor on CNN, CNNi, Fox News, Cheddar TV on topics ranging from goal setting to time management and finding your purpose. My advice has also been featured in the print publications New York Magazine, NASDAQ, Yahoo, Entrepreneur and more.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There have definitely been some bumps along the way but any bumps that I’ve encountered, I’ve always considered them learning experiences. One of my biggest struggles was a fear of public speaking and speaking up for myself. The way I overcame this was through great mentorship, believing in myself, and becoming a television reporter and anchor. When you are on TV, you are thrust into the spotlight and all eyes are on you, so the way I prepared was to practice, practice, and practice some more.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Through my coaching services, professionals learn how to successfully network, leave great lasting impressions, navigate corporate politics, and excel in business. Clients learn how to ask for and get what they want, how to stand out among their peers, how to get promotions and raises, how to prepare for interviews, and how to negotiate salary and bonuses. These services also tackle a wide range of other client needs, including how to deal with challenging managers and co-workers and how to transition into a new field.
What sets me apart from others is my television background. I’m able to empower professionals by teaching them the tips and tools I used to become a confident and effective speakers. I know how it feels to be self-conscious about speaking in meetings and on video. I never want anyone to feel the way I used to feel. This is why I’m so fulfilled by what I do.
I offer a broad range of services including career strategy, interview coaching, media and on-camera training, presentation training, life strategy, personal brand workshops, and confidence and on-camera training for children. I’m also available as a TV host and guest.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love coaching individuals and in group settings. I’m available for media requests, sponsorships and collaborations.
