Community Highlights: Meet Courtney Jubrey of Love My Glow

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Jubrey.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a Licensed Esthetician, lover of all things beauty and wellness, wife, mama and the friend that has all the tea on holistic remedies, skincare and product advice!

My love for skincare and wellness started at a young age with memories of me watching my Gramma pamper and love on herself daily. She was an OG Self Care and Soul Care advocate and learning from her over the years sparked the inspiration for Love My Glow.

I took the leap to start Love My Glow after receiving my Esthetician License and working in different spas and a very popular nationwide makeup store where I felt a disconnect between what I could promote, the products provided, and what my clients actually needed. Having my own setup allowed me to have the casual conversations I loved that often turned into educational moments because I wasn’t being rushed or forced to stay loyal to certain brands. I loved that feeling and wanted to extend that client connection outside of the treatment room, under my own rules. I began hosting mobile skincare parties, pop ups and wellness events which I sometimes paired with efforts to fundraise for causes very near and dear to me, such as The Walk To End Alzheimer’s, Run For Her, and Relay For Life. I was feeling like a rockstar, working independently and getting a little momentum when I had to take a sudden step back to help my mom and grandpa care for my beautiful Gramma. During my 6 ½ years as her caregiver, I made sure to continue treating her skin and hair with the love and care she always showed it. It was a full-circle moment for me to use the beauty routine I once learned from her on her. I took clients every now and then and eventually was able to open my own skincare suite in West Hollywood, CA. My suite was open for one year before having my first daughter and making the decision to be a stay at home mom. While at home, I still had the itch to see clients and started tinkering around with making my own products and providing skincare and product advice. I got the opportunity to work for a toxin-free lifestyle company that expanded my knowledge of the power of clean and sustainable ingredients and began to pour back into Love My Glow!

Currently, I am taking virtual skincare consultations and provide a service which helps you clean up your skincare and makeup bag and transition to cleaner yet still effective products. Black women purchase more personal care products than any other ethnic group with the vast majority of our products being more toxic. This is not ok! So I’ve made it my mission to help my people find better solutions while still keeping it cute! The pandemic has definitely forced me to get creative and pivot a few times, but I’m grateful for the journey and for all the things Love My Glow has in store!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I pressed pause quite a few times and am still learning how to balance it all and push past imposter syndrome.

Like I previously stated, at one point in my career I dedicated myself to being a full-time caregiver not realizing at the time that caring for myself by pouring into my dreams and goals daily was just as important. I created many delays because I was convinced I couldn’t do it all. Now, as a mother of two with one on the way I see that it is totally doable to get it all done if you give yourself the power to do so and stop making excuses.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Love My Glow?
I am a Licensed Esthetician specializing in skincare from a holistic standpoint. Love My Glow’s motto is “Nourish the Skin. Feed the Soul.” And that was my goal for every client while in the treatment room. It was a complete experience, from the lighting to the aromatherapy tailored to your needs, and the playlist was a whole vibe! Every client received a customized facial with products that truly nourished the skin and left with information on everything from how to keep up with an at home routine, gut health, and ways to invigorate the soul!

Now that I’m not in the treatment room and only providing virtual services at the moment, I try to keep that same energy. Consultations are not one size fits all. We dig deep to understand your skins needs so that I can provide you with product recommendations, proper home care, recipes for radiant skin and more!

What are your plans for the future?
Getting back into the treatment room would be great, but I’m also in no rush! So far, so good on the virtual tip, and it allows me to be more flexible with my growing family.

I’m launching my online wellness shop with my signature facial mist and herbal facial steam and a few other goodies which I’m really excited about.

I’ve also teamed up with my cousin and amazing makeup artist, Jazzmene Vitte, to create @CocoandJazz. A platform for women and moms balancing all things business, beauty and babies!

  • “Radiance” Facial Mist $12
  • “Refreshed” Herbal Facial Steam $16
