Community Highlights: Meet Brittany Windom of Eazy Bake Bee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Windom.

Hi Brittany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2017, I gave birth to my first child and I knew that I wanted to be with him every single day. I didn’t like the idea of going back to work and sending him to daycare or potentially missing his first moments. My husband and I decided that I would be a stay at home mom and shortly after, we welcomed our second baby. I loved being a stay at home mom, but I’ve always been a creative and I knew there was much more that I should be doing. I had been obsessed with watching cookie videos on Instagram and baking shows for several years, but I was always too afraid to give it a shot. In 2020, the world shut down and I felt like I was wasting away my potential and creativity. I knew I didn’t want to work for anyone, and leaving my babies was not an option, so I thought – Why not! I bought a few supplies and decided to give this cookie thing a shot. My first few batches were not good but also not completely terrible. I could see the potential. I spent the next few days, morning to night, studying and learning how to perfect my errors. About a week later, I had created a presentable set and then another and another. I built up enough courage to offer my services, and I got my first customer and from there, my business took off. I received so much positive feedback from my cookies, shares, and comments, and I couldn’t believe it. I officially started my business in September 2020 and by March 2021, I was able to gross the same amount as I did when working my corporate job. Since then, things have been steadily growing and I look forward to expanding my business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Fortunately, my cookie business has been smooth sailing so far. I’m steadily growing, learning, and adapting new techniques. Word of mouth and social media have been the key to my businesses success. However, the biggest struggle for me has been time management. I’m a one-woman show and I often find myself staying up until the next day, finishing cookie orders. As soon as I perfect one level and learn to manage a certain quantity, it seems like I’m unlocking the next. I’m grateful, nonetheless, and I count that as good problems to have.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Eazy Bake Bee is a custom cookie shop, and by custom, I don’t mean build your own flavor. I take your event/theme and bring it to life on the cookies. Anyone can bake a batch of round, tasty cookies, but few can bake tasty cookies that look like your favorite characters or things. My custom cookies are guaranteed to be the talk of the party. People are often surprised by what a cookie can actually become, and most times they don’t even want to eat them because they look like art. I create orders that are fun and playful to orders that are timeless and classy. These are not what you know of custom cookies, I add the flavor and the style and together, we can achieve any vision.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I’m a jack of all trades. Any and everything you can think of – I can do, and if I can’t, you can bet your last dollar it won’t take me long to figure it out. From hair to make up, design and style, building things, creating websites, drawing, singing, or sports. You name it, and I can do it. Which is probably surprising because I’m always nervous about trying new things, but I have love for a little bit of everything.
