Community Highlights: Meet Brandon Soufer of The Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Soufer.

Hi Brandon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Began my career in sales in the automotive industry as a Sales Consultant at Keyes Hyundai in Van Nuys at the age of 17. Once I moved to Santa Barbara for University, I became the Fleet and Finance Director at Lexus of Santa Barbara.

While working hard and taking 25 units at university.

I put Lexus of Santa Barbara on the map as a tiny dealership.

I ran and facilitated the whole sales department and had my own staff under me at the age of 20.

I hold the record for most cars sold in one month in Santa Barbara County in December 2019 with 30 Cars Sold in one month (which I did in 2.5 weeks because I still took a vacation).

I had mastered everything there was to know about sales and customer service, as I prided myself on my customer service and the experience I gave to everyone that walked through the showroom floor.

I had taken over the car market in Los Angeles, as I was transporting cars from Santa Barbara to as north as the bay, to as south as San Diego, because of the experience and care I gave to every customer.

When there is a local dealer in every city, I had taken over the market in all of the cities.

I trained and inspired all of the new salesmen and taught them the right steps from scratch on the beauty of sales and providing clients with the right customer service and experience.

Although car salesmen are known to have a bad stigma, I changed that for every client because I cared about every customer. Whether they bought a car or not, my goal was to ensure every customer came and left with a smile on their face. That was the biggest joy for me.

Once the pandemic occurred, my dealership closed and my studies transferred onto online. The empire I built and ran at the dealership in a blink of an eye collapsed as everything shut down.

I felt very defeated and helpless as the empire I built was gone.

After the success I had in car sales, I said goodbye to wanting to go to law school. Although I knew I could make a difference in people’s lives as a lawyer, I wanted to change the stigma that salesman carry and show that there are people that genuinely care for the wellbeing of their clientele.

I had always felt like there was a ceiling for myself in the car business, as I wanted to take sales to the next level and also do motivational speaking and mentoring, but I did not know how I could abandon the empire I had built and the difference I had made in the dealership.

I decided to channel the frustration and disappointment I felt from the pandemic and my dealership shutting down and obtaining my real estate license.

After a long process of obtaining my license, I became licensed in December 2020 and officially began my career in real estate January 2021.

Prior to finding the brokerage I belonged at, I faced another adversity of trying to be taken advantage of being new into the industry.

I was referred by a colleague to join a team, in which I was enticed by the idea of having help establish myself by having someone take a load of the load off of my shoulders in terms of responsibilities by being part of a team (such as marketing, a transaction coordinator, and more) which I saw as value of not being a solo agent to have things done for me in exchange for giving up a slice of my commission. When it came time for me to sign my contract to join a team, I noticed the percentage of commission I was going to give up changed from the originally promised amount to giving up half of my commission. When I asked why this was, the response was “You will be a piece of work and it will have to be worth my time to help you.” Once I heard this, I knew that this was a sign that anything that seems too good to be true really is too good to be true. I was not going to be that agent who was pawned and taken advantage of for being new.

This drove me to wanting to succeed even more and push myself harder to be successful.

I managed to find the brokerage I belonged at and where I felt welcomed. I joined Keller Williams Realty Brentwood Estates.

Within a short three weeks of being an agent, Brandon closed his first real estate transaction, which is something unheard of, as most agents close their first transaction within 6months to 1 year of being an agent.

The biggest joy for Brandon is giving the best experience to his clients and creating long-lasting relationships to their realtor for life.

In January, I switched brokerages and joined The Agency Beverly Hills as part of the AGL Group. Some of his areas of specialty are Beverly Hills, Westwood, West Hollywood, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Century City, Santa Monica and many more.

Brandon does not limit himself to one area of focus, as he has worked and is currently working with several buyers and sellers anywhere from Downtown Los Angeles to Lake Castaic and everything in between.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My road has been full of obstacles and challenges. As I stated in the last response box, from trying to being taken advantage of before I joined a brokerage and from starting from scratch in a completely new industry, it hasn’t been easy. Starting in a new industry, I had to start all my marketing, all my lead generation, find clients myself, I have gotten to where I am today by creating and starting everything on my own.
