Today we’d like to introduce you to Vienna.
Vienna, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’ve always been fascinated with art from a young age and never really thought about making my own until the last few years. I was in a relationship for a while and towards the end, it really affected me deeply and it was hard to really grieve from the loss of being with your best friend. With it being off and on even after it was over, I had a lot of mixed emotions and needed to express them in some way. I also have been sober for five years now, so alcohol was not an option anymore to mask my feelings.
Being Sober really heightens your senses and brings out all the demons you buried through the years. So when I turned to art, it was so therapeutic for me, especially the first year. I then realized I’ve uncovered a hidden talent of mine and rest has been history.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
What I love to do is put on music and channel into my art. I never have a plan or am I thinking about what I will do next. I just let go and flow. I get lost in the sound, and I’ll dance and paint in a automatic way bringing out any subconscious feelings. I mainly paint abstracts using acrylic, squeegees, pallet knife, my fingers, brushes.
I’m inspired by music mainly and my mood at that moment. I hope that people take away how free you can be and how art is so healing. I really want to inspire people to create and not be afraid of what anyone thinks. The beauty of art is that you are the artist, you are in control and nobody else can ever create what you do. We are all original beings of love and light and darkness.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
I think success as an artist is when you feel complete freedom through art. I think the key is being fully vulnerable and letting go of how it’s supposed to be.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
