Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Kuns.
Vanessa, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
The first time I ever picked up a camera was in High School, not knowing anything about photography, let alone camera settings, lighting or developing film. However, once I started learning photography I enjoyed every aspect of it. Once graduation came, I left the borrowed camera in the classroom and pursued other hobbies that I thought was my passion. Sure from time-to-time I would pick up a point-n-shoot but I just never experience the same excitement that I had back in High School. It wasn’t until over four years ago, that I fell in love with photography again. I picked up my husband’s DSLR camera and documented my nephew’s first year, after that I realized that the art of maternity and newborn photography was my new found passion. I love this genre of photography so much because it allows me to preserve these precious memories for my clients.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I’m a portrait photographer specializing in the art of newborn photography. I have a passion for newborn photography because I want to capture this precious moment in time before its gone. My slogan is “preserving your story” because these are special moments in life that are worth preserving and as you weave each image together you begin to tell your story. I’m honored to have my clients display the artwork that I’ve created for them and to know that their story will live on for many years to come.
What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Success is about being able to use my knowledge, skills and talent to create a piece of art that my clients cherish. Having clients that invest in my artwork and enjoy the work that I produce, motivates me for continuous improvement. It’s essential for an artist to have perseverance and determination in order to be successful.
