Check Out Taydee Marie’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taydee Marie.

Hi Taydee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a singer-songwriter with a passion for storytelling. My mama says I was born singing and I have been performing for family and friends as long as I can remember! I would dance and sing my little heart out, but no one, including myself knew I could write. I was dyslexic so I was afraid for anyone to read my bad spelling and one day, I just decided I would go for it! To my surprise, I shared my songs and people loved them! When I was 15, my parents bought me a keyboard for Christmas and I used YouTube and taught myself to play and have been writing and singing nonstop ever since! As a child & teen, I did beauty pageants just so I could be on stage to perform and was on every other stage that could be found in Central Arkansas. The week after graduation, I moved to Los Angeles and worked two years as an intern in a program through my church to help those experiencing homelessness at Skid Row. I thought it best to put God and service to people first before pursuing my dreams, helped me to become more stable. But during that time, I didn’t give up music completely. I continued to develop my craft and served in the worship leadership school and helped lead worship services for our church, Angeles Temple, the church of LADC (https://instagram.com/ladreamcenter?igshid=5g4coy599ak7).

After graduating the program, I co-founded a rock band, made an Ep and performed around So Cal on stages like the Whiskey, House of Blues, etc. After a couple of years of doing that, I decided to go after my own dreams and start my own solo career. I started performing wherever I could and worked as an actress with an independent film company and modeled. Thru this, I got introduced to the amazing Andrew Lane, a Multi-Platinum Producer (https://instagram.com/drewlanester?igshid=1lbtvhbibb7dl). After working with him on a project for the independent film company, he reached out to me and signed me as one of his artists for his music company, Drew Right music. I have gotten lots of opportunities through him. We recorded seven songs and I have also got to write for other artists. I have four more songs to release, two that I collaborated with talented rapper Shawn Don! (https://instagram.com/shawndonmusic?igshid=2ypv25eux7w) I’m really excited about the upcoming releases and to start performing as venues open up. Lots of exciting things coming up and thru God and hard work, I believe I will see my dreams turn to reality soon!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. It never is, is it? One of my biggest struggles is social media. On the one hand, I’m very thankful for all the outlets at my fingertips, but on the other it is very draining and can take a toll on my mental health. If you put me in front of my piano and tell me to write a song, I’m the happiest person in the world, but sit me in front of my phone and tell me to make an Instagram story, I’m a nervous wreck. I hide it well, but I’m an introvert it isn’t comfortable for me to let people into my personal life and I feel like that is what social media has done to our society. It’s like we all have glass walls and we invite the world to look inside.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Singer-Songwriter, Model, Actress, and I play piano. I love performing, but songwriting is really where I get my kicks. It is my absolute favorite part of the process. I think I could literally sit in front of my piano all day.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I hate what happened and all of the devastation that covid and the shut down has caused, but I’m very blessed to have a family that has helped me through this time. I know a lot of people sadly didn’t have a strong support system and that breaks my heart. This time has helped me to further develop my sound and it gave me a chance to completely focus on my music and for that, I am grateful.
