Check Out Shannon Waterman’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Waterman.

Hi Shannon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From as young as I could remember, I would tell everyone I wanted to be an actress and model when I grew up so that I could play different characters and express my creativity. I was so shy and such an introvert that it was hard to believe, but I always went for the biggest role in plays, acting class, etc. I would pretend that I was a dj/musician playing with the knobs on the radio. I was let down a lot growing up but it did not stop me. I was going to make everything happen that I said I would. Ever since, I have worked towards one creative passion to another and have continued to pursue them all. In college, I even wanted to push myself to come out of my as shell, so I declared my major as communications. Raised by both my parents in San Diego and Orange County, I couldn’t wait to get to LA to live out my dreams. Though I have a passion for many different types of creative arts and can’t just choose one, Los Angeles has allowed me to live them out and utilize every opportunity I can without being judged. The diversity here in every aspect is so beautiful to me. Now being a DJ, Electronic Music Producer, Actress, and Model, I will forever thank LA for letting me live out my dreams entirely. I will never stop chasing after more creative passion but have no doubt that I can’t take on them all.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it certainly hasn’t. Growing up as an only child with divorced parents, along with many other personal challenges, I was so afraid of the world. It’s funny to think everything I wanted to do in life would be right in front of the spotlight. Even in acting class or taking modeling photos in high school, my face would get bright red every time I was put on the spot. Through many embarrassing no’s, I knew what my passion was and I knew I would get there someday with confidence. It has been damaging at times to self-esteem and has caused a lot of anxiety but I wouldn’t change anything I went through for the world, as it has made me who I am today. The challenges along the road have only made me appreciate what I do and continuously work harder.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am DJ, music producer, model, and actress who specializes in all things creative. I am more known for print modeling as it is what I started with and have grown with the most. I have always had a passion for music but didn’t begin taking it on until about three years ago. Ever since then, my life has changed forever. There is so much beauty in music and it has become my biggest passion as performing and creating music helps many other people with what they’re going through. Never giving up, I am known for persevering and proving to myself I can make anything happen. I am most proud of choosing to live the life of my dreams, even though it may be unsteady at times. Success to me is truly doing what you love for work and feeling like you never worked a day in your life.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
As there have been some loving concerns along the way, I thank my family and closest friend as they have supported me and been by my side through it all. Support in general is so important, no matter how independent you are. I thank so many people along the way or lifting me up and cheering me on, even through the mistakes. I, myself, have always prided myself on my independence but especially in the times of this pandemic, I have finally learned how important collaborations is. I have collaborated virtually and invested so much more time in losing myself to music and the connection with people over the past year.
