Check Out Senoia Ortiz’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Senoia Ortiz.

Hi Senoia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in California but raised in Kansas most of my life. At the age of 15, I began to show signs of depression, but I didn’t tell anyone since I wasn’t completely conscious that I was experiencing symptoms or suffering from depression. I didn’t obtain a proper diagnosis until I was 17 years old, when I was told that I not only had depression but also anxiety. I felt quite alone after being diagnosed, and I didn’t know how to assist myself or even seek support from others around me. I didn’t know how severe depression and anxiety would get if not adequately treated until I suffered a severe mental breakdown that lasted nearly two years. I attempted to reach out to family, friends, and even church members for assistance, but they had no idea how to assist me. My relatives and friends had no idea what I was going through or what a person suffering from depression or anxiety looked like. As a result, I was left to cope with my mental illness on my own. After I got over that terrible moment in my life, I was angry at the individuals around me for not being able to support me adequately. I forgave them, though, because I had to realize that they were not adequately informed on what I was facing, therefore they could not truly assist me to the best of their skills. My circumstance motivated me to delve more into psychology and mental wellbeing.

Later on, in 2019, I enrolled at Citrus College to pursue my Psychology degree. In June 2021, I graduated with an Associates’ degree in Psychology and Sociology. After that, I decided to continue my education to pursue my bachelor’s degree in psychology so that I can establish my own mental health business in order to help others who may have faced or battled with depression. I’ve always provided advice despite when I was not in the right frame of mind. Now that I’ve discovered how to conquer depression and anxiety, I would like to assist others by giving individuals a voice so they don’t suffer so alone. In addition, they may assist their family and friends in becoming more knowledgeable about mental wellbeing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Certainly not! When it relates to managing your personal mental health while also being the first person in your family to graduate college, there may be a lot of expectations to succeed. I used to be so afraid of what people might say, whether they would really care about what I was speaking on and if I was really prepared to go forward and accomplish new things.

What motivates me is the possibility of changing someone’s life by giving them the tools that is needed to conquer their personal mental problems. In addition, I can assist family and friends in being well prepared to support anybody in their life who is struggling with psychological health challenges. I’ve often wished for someone like that in my life, therefore I aim to become that someone in the lives of others. So I’m grateful I didn’t give up because if I can have an impact in the lives of just one individual, it is worth everything to me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Healing of the Mind was established in 2021. Individuals with mental illnesses are frequently misunderstood, isolated, and insignificant in numerous settings, including the churches, schools, and even their own homes. As a result, individuals frequently experience feeling misunderstood, isolated, and worthless. As a result, they are frequently suffering in quiet. Speaking to somebody regarding their mental wellbeing might be difficult since the ordinary individual does not know how to cope with it. Mental illness exists, and several individuals are facing it alone and with no assistance. I intend to lead those individuals out of their dark places and into a brighter space.

I want to be the bright light at the end of the storm for someone. As a result, this is an environment where individuals will not experience feelings misunderstood or isolated because they have a mental condition. I specialize in informing individuals on various ailments, how to manage them, and how family and friends can assist. I aim to provide Individuals with the resources needed to acquire a stronger knowledge of mental illnesses. I think that being in a good atmosphere is the main phase towards healing your mind. my overarching objective is to assist individuals in feeling recognized, accepted, understood, respected, cherished, and encouraged.
