Today we’d like to introduce you to Rico Nashimoto.
Hi Rico, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. Because of my mother being fashion designer and my father being interior designer, I was always close to something creative. I started doing nails (not professionally) when I was in high school because I wasn’t able to afford going nail salon but I wanted to have nice nails. I never thought nails would be something that I would do for living at that time. When I finished high school in Japan, I decided to move to US and I chose LA. I never been book smart or person who loves study so I was always looking for something that I could do with creativity and chose to go cosmetology school. At the same time, I started working at nail salon as front desk and that’s where I saw nail industry in LA and instantly decided to be nail artist because it was so much creativity in it. This was back in 2015 and ever since, I’ve been in nail industry till this day.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I was lucky with my pass to where I’m at now. I don’t have complain but I always struggle with how to be better or best and still now I am always struggle to find better way to become better than now.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m nail artist specialized in gel nails. I only do gels also use high-quality products. My clients mostly want my artwork and I’m specialized in hand-painted nail art.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success is doing something I love and be proud about my creativity.
