Check Out Peachanda DuBose’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peachanda DuBose.

Hi Peachanda, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My career as a writer began in 2009 with my first staged play entitled “Surrender.” After volunteering to assist in a fundraising effort for a church, I was a member of at the time. I had no previous writing experience other than poetry. With that experience, I discovered a gift for writing I wasn’t aware that I had.

Nearly five years ago, I relocated to California, from Charlotte North Carolina, to manifest a deeper level in my career as a writer, director and producer.

Leading up to this transformation, I spent previous years traveling back and forth from North Carolina to Los Angeles. For rehearsals and performances in an effort to establish a Hollywood following before the big move.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
During my career, I’ve made tremendous sacrifices as a mother and artist. For years (until very recent), I was homeless as a result of needed sacrifice to launch various productions independently, with minimal resources and little to no support, family or otherwise.

As a result, my family unit as a single mother suffered in multiple ways and the physical repercussions of living in my car (for years) has taken a significant toll on my physical body and emotional well-being. Thankfully I’m overcoming each day with the unwavering support of my young adult son, who remains a constant strength in my life and journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
