Check Out Mike Guevara’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Guevara.

Hi Mike, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a performance coach and consultant of athletes of all levels. I started off as a performance intern who quickly advanced as a base-level performance coach at The Elite Factory in Westlake Village, CA. Over the course of the next three years, I helped trained NFL Combine prep, high school and college athletes, and tennis players. I earned a traveling contract with then WTA World’s #5 Victoria Azarenka. We were able to experience great success including a World’s #1 ranking for over 50 weeks. After training in tennis, I was able to transition into working with NBA basketball players where I settled into a great niche and identity. Working with Jrue Holiday and Anthony Davis has projected me as a known name in the world of performance for basketball players. I currently oversee the athletic development of numerous NBA basketball players, high school athletes, and a few NFL football players.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No road to success is smooth and we all experience challenges along the way, this is what allows us to grow and become more wise. My path was and is no different. Struggling with client acquisition early, maintaining a schedule busy enough to sustain month to month, finding a mentor that was willing to help me develop, and making very poor business relationships and partnerships were very present detours in my journey.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an indépendant performance coach and consultant. I help athletes realize and achieve their true potential through movement and skill training, nutritional strategies, recovery strategies, and mentorship. I am most known for my work in the NBA working with athletes like: Jrue Holiday, Anthony Davis, Rajon Rondo, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Duncan Robinson to name a few. I am most proud of our up and coming app called GBG Hoops which is a training app for all mobile devices which will guide athletes to achieving basketball-specific goals and physical attributes. The qualities which set me apart from others is my ability coach movement in a very digestible and engaging way. I am dedicated to communicating in a way that is understandable, engaging, and educating all at the same time.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love Los Angeles because it is a mover’s dream. You can take advantage of LA’s vast topography depending on your goal of the day. You can go to the beach for a hardcore sand workout or dip into the brisk ocean for a recovery swim. You can hike beginner, intermediate, and expert hiking trails depending on your level and follow up all of that amazing stimuli with a Michelin star-rated restaurant. LA has so much to offer and sometimes it is very difficult to figure out what to do due to the decision fatigue. What I least like about the city is the freaking traffic!!!!!! Period!
