Check Out Le’Shay M’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Le’Shay M.

Hi Le’Shay, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
At a very young age, I always knew I wanted to be a business owner. I knew I wanted to be my own boss, to make a name for myself. For years I tried to figure out what it is I wanted to do in life, trying to find my passion. I’ve started plenty of businesses in the past with the mindset of just ‘making money’ and for that very reason they all failed. As I got older, I began to pay more attention to what inspired me, what makes me happy, what motivates me, taking the time to get to know and understand what I want to do with life and most importantly what I’m passionate about.

After graduating high school with distinguished honors, I proceeded to college at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. At first, it was amazing, I met some wonderful people, I was having the time of my life. But, although I had a love for science in high school and went on to make it my major, minoring in secondary education, I began to lose interest. It didn’t excite me anymore. I had no time for me, for my mental, for nothing. All I did was school work and cry because I just overall was not happy. During that time, I came to the conclusion that I wanted to take a break and enlist in the military, no one knew except for my bestfriend and my girlfriend. It was an impulse decision but I just wanted a change and I also I wanted to make a change.

During that process, I had a moment to re-evaluate my decision. I decided I would finish the year out, take a semester off, find a job back at home figure myself out, and transfer to a more local university.

It all started on a Thursday in June 2017. I went to a local hairstylist in my city. I had a sew-in at the time and wanted to get it dyed a certain color, I loved her work so I booked an appointment. I wanted a bright red at the time so my hair needed to be bleached, which I was informed, so I approved. Went on to begin the process, sat under the dryer, now it’s time to rinse, but I noticed as she rinsing my hair is coming out. Only my leave out because again I had a sew-in weave. My hair went from about 12” to about 1”, no exaggeration. I cried. I was heartbroken. Although she was very apologetic and sympathetic, I could not get past me losing all my hair in this one section.

About a month later, one of my Instagram followers needed models for a hair shoot, specifically needing a model who was willing to get a bob hair cut, and here I go not learning my lesson. I offered my services. I did the shoot, and this time I hated my cut. I was so unsatisfied.

So at that very moment I said “I HAVE TO GROW MY HAIR BACK”.

I began to try everything, biotin, hair, skin & nails, Aloe vitamins, and so much more. I would not see growth, but my skin would break out, my hair would look dry, overall I had no positive outcome. So I sat and thought, well what can I do that’s natural since I have very sensitive skin, what can I use what’s good for your skin and your nails? I then researched for days, weeks, I tried multiple different things, some that worked some that didn’t. And one day, I was running low so I sat and came up with my own growth serum, MY own recipe!

I used it for about a month, my results were immaculate. I posted them and got so many inquiries. So each month I would do updates and my hair had just been growing and growing and growing. Like sometimes non-stop. I was so happy. But this was for me, never in a million years thought about making it a business.

I remember my girlfriend and her sister harassing me every single time they saw my growth, saying “SELL IT” “WHO DOESN’T WANT TO GROW HAIR?”. And I would procrastinate, doubt myself, not take anything serious.

September 18, 2018 I woke up, I went to my local beauty supply store I spent $232, I went back home, I didn’t have anything I need as far as equipment, so I used only what was in my kitchen. I made about five bottles, I ran out, had to go back to the store, got back home and got right to it again. I only made ten bottles. I didn’t have a name, I didn’t have a logo, I didn’t even have bags for my customers, but I had a plan and a dream. So I posted it on my Instagram and when I say in not even an hour my bottles were bought and sold. All of then! It felt so good.

So at that point, I knew people trusted in my product. They believed my word. They trusted ME. So I took advantage of that. I came up with a name, yet I still didn’t have a logo or nothing.

December 2018, I was gifted my every first logo for Ellè Organics, and once I got that, it was time to apply pressure! So I did just that!

Nine sold out drops, 600+ bottles sold, 23 states, later and this is still only the beginning! Pressure applied!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road for Ellè Organics has not been a smooth road. Running a business is not easy. Many sleepless nights, wanting to give up, messed up packages, ruined photoshoots, it’s never smooth sailing but I just never quit. I know that this is my journey that I’m going to finish no matter what door is closed in my face or what rock is thrown at me! I appreciate those hard times because I know that over time I will build the brand I desire to have and I will appreciate the things I’ve overcome early on in my career.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Ellè Organics LLC is a hair care BRAND that specializes in organic, hand-made hair care products. Which promotes growth, restores your strength, rejuvenates your natural curl, and replenishes natural moisturizers needed for your hair.

We are known for our infamous ‘Mint Growth Oil’, best seller still, since 2018.

What sets me about from others is that I’m authentically me. Always have been always be. I’ve always wanted to do my own thing, be my own person, stand out and be different. And that’s exactly how I run my business. My entire brand is different, and that’s what I’m so proud of. That whether I have 10 followers or 10M followers, my brand, my results, my content, everything is 100% authentic.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I strongly suggest following Instagram and subscribing to our mailing list on our site. We have casting calls for photoshoots, and we’re also currently looking for an LA and ATL brand ambassador. Just stay connected!
