Today we’d like to introduce you to Kadeem Gomez.
Hi Kadeem, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started out by mixing drinks at family events and seeing reactions to the drinks sparked my interest of the recertification of my bartending license. I then began booking gigs through Thumbtack, building my presence and reviews. Shortly after I started my Instagram page to post content and build my portfolio. From there and word of mouth from those at events which I bartended everything took off!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In the beginning, it was a challenge, considering I was the new kid on the block. Competing with established businesses, and signing up for applications such as Thumbtack, I’d be compared to others with tons of reviews, references, etc. Creating my business Instagram page was a major key to building my presence. Having content to post consistently and staying interactive with followers was a daunting task at first. However, the more I did it the easier it became.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a mixologist with the bartending experience! I love to create a fun environment for the guest. Creating bar menus with signature drinks with my clients have been a huge hit. I’ll collaborate with clients to come up with witty names for drinks that draw guest’s attention based off the theme of the party, milestone, etc. I also come dressed for the occasion/theme when necessary (cowboy, 90s, Halloween). I also make adult caprisuns which are popular amongst the guest. They’re caprisun pouches with my signature jungle juice, flavors include green apple, watermelon, blue raspberry, and passion punch.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
– Los Angeles is a beautiful city, with something always going on. There’s always an event going on that needs a bartender! People want good-looking drinks that taste well and have them feeling good! There’s also a lot of entrepreneurs that believe in themselves just as I do. – Los Angeles is a place that is based off networking. It’s about who you know. This can be a good or bad thing if you don’t know the right people.
