Check Out Justin Chambers’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Chambers.

Hi Justin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in a small town where nothing ever happened and if you didn’t want to play sports, or be a doctor, fire fighter or police office there really wasn’t anything for you.

I think that’s what lead me to plays, books, movies… It was a way to escape.

And I will never forget when my mother bought be the film Jurassic Park. I’m Costa Rican, and this film takes place off the gulf of Costa Rica. I thought it was real! I thought these people sent this video because they needed help. I can’t believe my parents for let me believe that for so long! But it wasn’t until they bought me the making of Jurassic Park. That I saw people actually did this for living. It was in that moment that I understood there was nothing else for me. I had to be a filmmaker.

At 17, I packed what I could fit in my car and put that town in my rearview and headed to LA.

I’ve been making films since I was nine. No, it hasn’t been easy and in fact, it has been really, really, hard sometimes. But anyone who has ever succeeded in entertainment will never tell you it was easy.

We’ve shed blood, sweat and tears to get where we are and I’m just thankful I have a career in film and can support my family while living out my dream!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge of my career has been the privileged people. You will find in Hollywood there are people they pray for you and people that prey on you. It’s important to have very good support system close to you to navigate the land minds of the business.

You also have to never give up.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Producer, Director, Editor and Writer and yes, I love them all equally lol. In today’s world, you must be multifaceted.

I work with major brands/ clients through my production company Crevice Entertainment creating captivating commercials as well as having two films on Amazon Prime, and sold our first film to Netflix.

What does success mean to you?
Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life, as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.

The question I get asked most often is how you make it in film. The thing is you can focus on the tips and tricks, like the rule of thirds, luts, or snappy editing…. But in my opinion you’re focusing on the wrong thing. What you can’t learn is POV, point of view and everyone has one. It’s about finding yours and growing it, and that only comes from doing. Each time you’ll come to find yourself having better ideas and be able to better execute them… discover stories and portray them from a unique perspective that grabs your audience and pulls them in. Composing shots better that feel immersive, that all comes from your point of view. So the advice I give to everyone when it comes to how to make it in film is to just do it.

I’m always looking for actors for projects so feel free to follow me or my production company on social media @crevice_ent.
