Check Out Jason Lopez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Lopez.

Hi Jason, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Artistically, I go by the name of BLUUR and I am a DJ/producer based in Los Angeles. Like many others, I felt an extreme sense of hopelessness during the 2020 quarantine at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. My passion for House music fueled my urge to create a sound that would make me feel more optimistic given that the world was full of uncertainty back then.

I embarked on my journey by producing my first single “DANCE”, and that’s when the vision clicked for me. I had carved out my sense of freedom within my tiny downtown apartment through the hard-hitting music I had made. Shortly after, I began to build a platform and recreated that same feeling by releasing more singles on Spotify: including “DANGER”, “No Sleep”, and most recently “Pop That Bottle.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Due to my nontraditional launch into music, I had to rely on my abilities to self-teach myself music theory, learn programs like Ableton, and everything in between. The biggest struggle was ridding my mind of imposter syndrome and realizing I have the vision and potential to make it in the industry. Battling the feeling of being overwhelmed with multiple projects happening, I’ve learned to come to terms that the music I produce embraces my artistic vision that I’d like others to feel and relate to.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
You can find me working away in a very corporate setting when I’m not producing music. I’d like to keep my employer private, but I essentially work in a corporate environment handling large corporate accounts. It’s a very different path from music, but I adhere to the challenge of bifurcating my team between both identities.

Working in corporate is not a part of the long-term vision as I want to replace my 9-5 with my musical brand. That is why I’m laser-focused on transitioning the bulk of my professional life into music by mixing and mastering tracks for artists and performing more live shows in the meantime.

What are your plans for the future?
I plan to dabble into the musical side of virtual reality. The future of entertainment is slowly transitioning towards digital channels with the metaverse as a new platform. I will continue on focusing my craft and producing the best possible experience I can as a DJ/producer and play a “live” set both in-person and online. Riding the wave of digital content, I will soon release NFTs that grant exclusive access to all BLUUR products in both real life and in the Metaverse.
