Check Out Eddie Lomeli’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Lomeli.

Hi Eddie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi everyone, my name is Eddie, some people may know me as Eddie Mac on social media, which actually helped name my business  Casa de Mac.  I lived in the San Fernando Valley for about seven years before moving back to Modesto, CA. One thing I love about the Los Angeles area are the amazing and unique street vendors. Not only is the food amazing but also the relationship they have one another and their customers. I would see a lot of birria vendors and it reminded me of when I was a kid and my mom used to make birria for sale and cater. When I moved back to Modesto and the pandemic hit, I thought about how to make extra money and one of the things that came to mind right away was  the street vendors of LA. I brought my mom, Laura,  recipes back to life and me and her have a catering business now with birria as our specialty & other goodies. We do all kinds of events and have catered in the Bay Area, Central Valley, and all over the Los Angeles area.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a very difficult road for the most part. I had no knowledge about being a food vendor. Also, the county I live in is not as lenient as Los Angeles County. When I would seek help, I would always get misinformation.I would be learning through my mistakes and harassment from health inspectors. Also since this is not my full-time job, it is hard to make a profit due to our food expenses being high. Seeing our regulars and meeting new people makes it all worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What I’m known for the most now is my small business, Casa De Mac. What I am most proud of is starting a small business with my mom, Laura. What sets me apart from others is the service we give to our guests, our food, but most importantly is that I get to do all this with my amazing mom.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Our goal as a family is to one day be able to have a food truck and do this full time. My moms recipes are too amazing for the world not to taste, and it’ll happen sooner than later.
