Check Out Dezirae Pelayo’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dezirae Pelayo.

Hi Dezirae, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always wanted to do acting and be part of the entertainment industry. The first time I got to ever experience what it was like to be on camera was when I was in 5th grade. My mother was doing jobs for Dr. Phil and I was able to be on the show with a few other kids my age and he was talking to us about money and how much parents spend for our necessities. But just being in the dressing room I would imagine what it would be like if this is what I did when I grew up. I was always at paramount studios because of my mother and I loved it there. In 2019 I decided to move to Burbank, which is surrounded by all the studios. I took acting classes and created films with other actors, directors, and filmmakers. I started working in tv shows, feature films and movies and got the experience of working behind the scenes and being on the same set with these huge celebrities like Adam Sandler, Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep, and so much more. I never really feel like I’m working, if anything I’m doing what I love. My goal is to just do what I love and not for the wrong reasons like just for money, acting is something that can take me to a different place and really open up and allow myself to feel things I have never felt or too scared to feel. It’s such a fascinating work of art. Later I realized I wanted to do more, I wanted to do modeling and started to book a lot of shoots, and then also being behind the camera and become the photographer so I started booking shoots with other models. I also love to dance so I take dance classes every week. I want to be able to DJ at clubs/events and am currently learning from friends of mine. I really want to open my horizons to many things that I know I am capable of doing and have good potential in. I just want to create and make people feel the love through my work of art. It’s nothing but love.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been an overnight success and that’s okay. This journey has been pretty crazy for me. I think the biggest struggle is that there are so many people trying to do what you want to do, but it doesn’t mean you won’t make it. Everyone has their own opinion on “making it” really, but one thing I stick to is never giving up of course, and keeping myself inspired and determined. Determination is the biggest thing. I’d say the hardest struggle I’ve ever had to deal with was losing someone who inspires me the most. It was the biggest loss that really took a toll on me. I’ve never dealt with the death of someone I’m more than close to before, so this was extremely painful and I didn’t know how to be myself again after and it can be difficult to talk about it with others. But he was more than a friend, he was a very special person to me and I know that he’s watching over me and would want me to thrive, I feel like I want to work even harder for him. I believe everything happens for a reason and these struggles could be lessons or are just supposed to be part of the journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My main thing I love to do is acting. I am also doing photography, dancing and currently learning how to DJ. I’m going to start making music and singing as well and not be afraid of singing in front of crowds instead of in the shower. I am most proud of all the work I’ve been able to do and all the determined people I was able to meet. I think what could separate me from others is that I am genuine. It’s hard to find a genuine person especially in this industry, but I will always be me and will always just love.

Any big plans?
My plans are to keep doing what I love and to set goals and follow through with them. I want to make big moves and I just have to keep doing what I’m doing and I know I will get there. With all the love and support from others, I will get there.
