Check Out Coquito Martinez Jr’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Coquito Martinez Jr.

Hi Coquito, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
At the age of five years old I knew my passion was to become an actor. I always loved being in front of the camera. Growing up my parents were not supportive of me trying to chase my dream. Telling me I needed to think realistically & go to college or trade school. In my pre-teen years, I failed managing getting into acting school due to my parents not having the time to take me. In high school I was fortunate to take Tv Production & Broadcast News, there I got to learn what happens on in front & behind the scenes. I created a YouTube channel in 2012, my goal was to grow an audience to the point where I could start showing my talent on screen. The goal was to reach an amount of viewership, subscribers, & shares to the point where one day someone would reach out noticing I had something valuable to bring to the industry. It’s crazy to think the way I did but it was possible. I reached local fame in my area but that wasn’t enough for me. After one year completed of community college, I dropped out. I tried it yet it wasn’t what I wanted to do. I was working full-time miserable until in 2020 the pandemic occurred. Being laid off was the best thing that happened to me. Reflecting on my life, I finally got the opportunity to start perusing my acting career, applying to various acting agencies hoping one would give me a chance to prove myself. On New Year of 2021, I signed with an agency in Chicago. I started getting private coaching, looking for local work getting my feet wet. I got a demo reel made by Lake Front Pictures which boosted my audition opportunities. In 2022, my resume has grown tremendously. Now I’m with two agencies, networking, & constantly busy on projects. I would never have thought I would actually be living my dream that so many people doubted was impossible for me to accomplish.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was everything but a smooth road. Doing my own research looking up on which acting schools & agencies were legit. I got scammed twice thinking they were legit. It was very frustrating, you get excited thinking you’re finally going to get an opportunity to learn & grow only to find out it was a scam. The most difficult accolade is when you’re starting your acting career & you are a green actor. To keep training on your own hoping someone will like something they see in your self-tape & cast you.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am also a model, artist, editor, videographer, & content creator. I work full time while I am constantly creating new songs & visuals for all of my music videos. I have been editing & creating content for over ten years. I’m known for my YouTube channel & acting. I am most proud of that I started from creating my own content and trying to get my name out. Now I’m in front of the camera by all these fantastic production companies giving me the chance to show that I belong. I have so much to offer on & off-set, I write, direct, produce, edit, film, & photograph as well as talent. All my attributes & knowledge sets me apart from everyone else due to the fact that I have many talents & skills. My motivation & passion is what is going to make me very successful.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Going to WWE Summerslam in 2008 being able to meet my favorite superstars live. The atmosphere is unparalleled to the energy you can only feel in person. Watching the action in front of you & cheering on the protagonist. Exciting day & one I will never forget.
