Check Out Cinthia Parada’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cinthia Parada.

Hi Cinthia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hola! I’m the creator of Cinply Essentials; each item is formulated and handcrafted by me from start to finish with pure positive intent. My mission behind Cinply Essentials is to advocate the practice of self-care maintenance. I strive to bring your skin to a healthier state by providing botanical skincare & your spirit to higher vibration by providing beginner spiritual tools. Cinply Essentials is luxury yet affordable, eco-conscious & ethical.

I started this Latina-owned small business in fall of 2019. I always knew I wanted to be a small business owner but was not sure quite what to do yet. I just knew it needed to be eco-conscious and provide helpful resources for my community and to one day grow large enough to where I can do this full time & give back animal charities.

It all started when I began to look at my daily life habits and see how I can make adjustments to be more eco-conscious. For example, instead of buying gallons of laundry liquid, I started making my own powdered soap to save on plastic; or switching from foil paper for my leftover food to reusable waxed cloth. Just the smallest changes can make all the difference for your life, pocket, and most importantly mother earth. I then transitioned into how I can consciously use clean ingredients on myself such as lotions and other beauty products. Products that are not only healthier for my body but also eco-friendly.

I then began to take online courses and lots of research on herbalism & formulating and began to make my own beauty products and herbal teas for internal and external purposes. This is when the business idea came to life!

I started off small; only selling to family and friends my herbal blends, body scrubs, and body oil. From there, I learned more and more about formulation and herbal benefits and the formulations ideas kept rolling in! Then within a short period of time, I had a full line of botanical products and began selling them at local pop-up small business events! I still remember my first event ever was in January of 2020 at a local LB restaurant called Honduras Kitchen. This was hosted by a Latin organizer called Loteria nights where guests can eat, drink, play loteria, and shop Latina owned small businesses.

During this time, I also began dappling into spirituality and my self-care journey and incorporating it into my self-care rituals which naturally got incorporated into my new business as well. Each product is created with positive intention and cleansed before selling. I also incorporate spiritual tools such as custom-made smudge sprays I handmake, crystals, and I’m about to roll some new luxurious hemp soy manifestation candles! You won’t want to miss these!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely has not been a smooth road. I have been in business for almost two years and still struggle on getting consistent sales. I know I have great luxury, affordable products and am confident in what I make but I struggle with getting my brand seen. I tend to get discouraged at times because I see other small businesses growing faster than me and it’s hard to not compare however I just have to remind myself my time to shine will come and I will one day be able to run this business full time. Another struggle I have is how much time out of my life this business takes. Keep in mind everything is hand-made, packaged, labeled, formulated… everything is done by me and only me. I’m not investing in wholesale items and reselling or offering a service that has almost no overhead. This business involves a lot of upfront costs and very time-consuming to make. Working a full-time corporate job, personal life and this business all one is very tiring at times but I push forward to achieve my goals.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I hand make botanical skincare and am known for providing a line of handmade but luxury plant-based products at an affordable cost. I am proud of the fact that it takes more work than people realize to handmake skincare and I don’t give up. I get off a full shift at work, come home get my home in order, and still make time and energy to handmake each item with love and intention for my customers. Yes, there are many skincare brands out there but mine is unique and sets me apart from other skincare brands because I incorporate spirituality into these items and advocate creating yourself a self-care ritual. My line is not just another average skincare line claiming to give you perfect skin. There is no such thing as perfect skin. What is even perfect skin? I am Cinply here to provide my community products to incorporate into their self-care rituals. Products that yes will benefit their skin in a natural way but also help them to feel great about themselves. Products that will give you a moment of peace and self-love as you take a moment out of your hectic day to pamper yourself.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Honestly, authenticity, confidence, constructive criticism, friendly, great customer service skill, communication, constant education.
