Check Out Ashley Chavez and Abby Hunt’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Chavez and Abby Hunt.

Hi Ashley and Abby, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We met one another while attending Pepperdine University, both public relations majors, we hit it off and loved meeting new people and hearing their stories. We then graduated in spring of 2020, right when the pandemic was kicking off and the world was put on hold. We had no jobs, too much time on our hands sitting at home, and we’re looking to use our creative skills to start some sort of project or business. Additionally, we were struggling with the transition of college to post-grad and all of the new challenges of being a lost 20-something.

All of this was happening right around the time we were loving listening to new podcasts, yet we couldn’t find one geared specifically towards guiding 20-somethings through life (the ones we did find had older hosts and were more serious). We figured if there wasn’t one available, we would just have to create it ourselves.

So Just Go With It was born through trial and error, asking lots of questions, and self-teaching podcast audio and editing. We started having on interviews with other 20-something guests that we admired (business owners, entrepreneurs, influencers, content creators). Slowly and steadily, we gained more guests and grew our audience, all focused on navigating our 20s, relating to our audience, offering advice, and realizing sometimes the best thing to do is just go with it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road had been more smooth than unpaved, thanks to the supportive friends, family, and mentors we have around us. There was definitely a learning curve, when we started we knew absolutely nothing about podcast recording, audio, mics, editing, and posting. However, we self-taught everything launched fast and adjusted as we went along. Our guests are all incredibly supportive when it comes to promoting their episode and growing our audience.

That being said, one of the most difficult areas is audience growth. While we are doing well, it’s taken some time to gain traction in the podcast world and reach as wide of audiences as possible (which is why supportive guests are so crucial).

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We specialize in reaching like-minded audiences of 20 something years old trying to navigate life and letting them know that they’re not alone. As previously mentioned, we stand apart from similar podcasts because rather than looking back on our 20s and offering advice, we’re right in the thick of it and figuring life out as we go along too. We learn and takeaway as much advice from our guests as we imaging our listeners do.

We are most proud of our consistency and authenticity in releasing episodes and providing high-quality guests with a message to send.

What makes you happy?
There’s nothing that makes us happier than hearing from a listener that they enjoy our episode or took valuable advice from it. Podcasts can sometimes feel as though you’re shouting into the void and there is nobody on the other side of the microphone. However, when someone writes a thoughtful review or sends us a message on Instagram saying how much they enjoy aspects of an episode, it reminds us that people out there are listening and they actually care,
