Today we’d like to introduce you to Alysha Logan.
Hi Alysha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been so interested in makeup, I remember sneaking into my mom’s bathroom to borrow her eyeliner and lipsticks when I was maybe 10? In middle school, I used to do my friend’s makeup in the bathroom every morning. I loved how excited my friends would get once I was done. When I graduated high school, I immediately started my certification program and fell in love with the technique and my school really pushed for creativity. They wanted us to explore our creativity as much as possible which is really what pushed me later on. I always knew I wanted to do something with makeup, I had assumed I would’ve pursued special event makeup (and I do still specialize in that for clients). But when the pandemic hit, like most millennials, I downloaded TikTok and immediately was fascinated with the looks and transitions people would do. I thought I might try some beauty looks on there but I had never imagined I would’ve started making videos like this and getting to be so creative.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d really say the biggest challenge I’ve had so far is myself. I’m so grateful that I’ve always had a supportive family and when I said I wanted to pursue being a makeup artist, my mom and dad immediately started looking into programs in our area and pushed me to go all out. Same thing for my husband, when I told him I wanted to become a content creator and start making TikToks of my makeup he was immediately on board and is always the first one to give advice on my videos. But for the longest time, I’d be so afraid to go out of my comfort zone and it wasn’t until I really let my creativity go that I started to see a major development in my makeup.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a certified makeup artist. I’ve been certified for ten years and in the last two years, I’ve put my creative efforts into being a content creator on TikTok and Instagram. Honestly, I’m most proud of how far my looks have come. I stopped being afraid of “not being good enough” and allowed myself to be more expressive with my makeup and really get to explore and really relearn my passion. I also wanted my daughter to see her mom not be afraid to pursue creative passions at any age. She’s 4 and is now wanting to play with my makeup just like I used to with my moms, lol.
I think what sets me apart is I actually prefer most drugstore makeup over high end and I usually use that in my videos in the hope that anyone who wants to recreate them can without worrying about being able to afford the products! I want them to be able to use the products they already have!
