Check Out Alicia Spaulding and Michelle Ross’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Spaulding and Michelle Ross.

Hi Alicia and Michelle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We have been Besties since high school and always talked about having a business together one day. The thought of starting a hair company came up as an idea over dinner, 4 years ago. Literally, the next day we put things into motion and started searching how to start a hair business. It made sense for us because we had been wearing hair extensions as a way to protect our natural hair since our senior year in high school. We definitely know all about hair and wanted to provide a quality hair experience to others. After a little over a year of planning we launched Posh Like Me Hair Co. to the world!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth road. Some of the struggles we faced were finding a vendor. We tested many hair vendors and invested our own money until we found a vendor with top-quality hair. Creating a website wasn’t easy because the first person we went through got over on us. Figuring out how to Market and create consistent content is an ongoing struggle. Building a brand and getting exposure while having full-time jobs is hard work and takes time. But we notice the longer we’ve been in business, we built momentum and growth.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Our advice to others just starting a business would be, if you have an idea that your passionate about just start. Don’t wait until you have it all together. It’s ok to start off small and take it step by step eventually it will come full circle. Keep in mind it takes time for your business to grow. Don’t expect or take it personal when family and friends don’t support you. Keep learning about your business. Make sure you are doing something you love, and This may sound cliché but “KEEP GOING”.
