Today we’d like to introduce you to Michal Mangan.
Michal, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
My story as an artist starts at age two. My mom put me in dance classes because I was extremely shy and she wanted me to learn how to work with others and express myself. After some years of classes and competing, I auditioned for Boston Ballet School when I was 15. I was accepted, So my family sold practically everything and moved across the country so I could continue my training. I was in their school for two years then was asked to be a trainee with the company. After completing a year of the program, I am now taking the commercial dance route while also pursuing photography and modeling.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
With any kind of art I create, whether it’s my dancing/choreography or photography, my main goal is to make people feel something. I want to make you pause and forget the world around you for a bit. I think we get too caught up in the negatives in life and I want to remind people that there is so much beauty and positivity in the world. I truly believe beauty in humanity will be our saving grace, and that’s what I hope to remind people whenever they see something I’ve created.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Don’t be afraid! It’s okay to break some rules and to use your art to voice opinions/ideas and to make statements. I wish I learned sooner to never second guess anything you create. And to not be so hard on myself, everyone is imperfect; therefore art is imperfect. There’s no right or wrong answers, just real human emotions and the need to express them. And that’s the beauty in it all. Everyone naturally has an artist inside them.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Mainly on social media, it’s one of the biggest platforms to not only show your work but to also discover the other amazing things people are doing out there. On Instagram, I have @michal.mangan and my photography @lifeinmass that’s where I share the most of my work. The best way to support what I do is to just simply follow me on my journey and be a part of all my projects. I like to engage and conversate with everyone who follows me and get to know their stories as well.
