Check out Meghan Michelle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meghan Michelle.

Meghan, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I have always been an artist with a lifelong desire to create and evolve works of art. My background stems from my sculpture degree at USC and designing for over ten years at high-end flower shops across Los Angeles, catering to some of Hollywood’s most famous stars. Some of my career highlights include designing flowers for The Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, Christian Dior on Rodeo Drive and The Annual Academy Awards and Governor’s Ball. My desire to start MM Florals came from the pure love and enjoyment I found doing flowers and the ability to share that joy and passion with others. For me, using the knowledge and skill I have acquired working with flowers to improve someone else’s day has been the most rewarding part of the business and the reason I continue to do what I’m doing.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Flowers are my passion. I create exquisite floral designs for once-in-a-lifetime events to remember such as weddings, special celebrations and holidays, as well as teach flower workshops at my studio located at the historic Brewery Artist Lofts in DTLA. I work with flower varieties from all over the world, using seasonal blooms from places such as South America, Holland, New Zealand, Oregon, and also support local growers here in California. I use premium florals with substantial texture and moody tones to create a signature look with an air of luxury.

I hope that people take away something that simply brings them joy. Beauty and happiness mean so much more when it’s shared. Whether I am making flower crowns for little girls in the neighborhood, teaching a succulent wreath workshop at my studio or designing flowers for one of the most important days of someone’s life, my goal is always the same – to make people happy sharing my art. I am blessed that I can use my creative gift to tell a story and showcase flowers in a unique way. With MM Florals my intention is to do just that- to make floral art for people to enjoy. It is a very rewarding feeling to give a piece of something you love so much to someone else, so they too can fall in love with it and see something new.

How can artists connect with other artists?
I think social media has become such a great tool to connect and learn about new people. I have built relationships through Instagram, LinkedIn and several different Facebook groups. There are so many interesting things happening and studio exhibitions to check out. I enjoy taking local workshops to learn something new and meet fellow artists and designers. There are also a lot of great resources in my community and opportunities to join artist associations to stay connected.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
To see examples of my work or contact me regarding an upcoming event, you can visit my website at and follow me on Instagram @mmflorals to be the first to know about our upcoming workshops.

And perhaps the most fun and interactive way to support MM Florals is to come check out the bi-annual Brewery Art Walk in DTLA. Twice a year during the spring and fall, I open my private studio to the public and create a fun, event-like atmosphere with floral art, music, and food for people to come in and simply enjoy. There are large interactive floral installations such as living ceilings and walls, workshop demonstrations and a pop-up shop featuring unique decor, plants and crystals.  It’s a really great event to check out and a lot of fun!
