Check out Marcy Ferro’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcy Ferro.

Marcy, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
First and foremost, I love art. I love creating art, I love experiencing art, and I love admiring art. And I do mean art of any kind – from painting to jewelry, and from sculpting pottery to creating music, I love it all! I also have a passion for helping other artists thrive as artists – particularly on the business side of their art.

I also believe that anyone is capable of doing art and, in fact, art is one of the best ways for people to improve their mood, take in and explore their environment, and generally embrace life. It is my favorite therapy for pretty much everything! Along with helping artists improve on their current creative endeavors in any way possible, I am also on a mission to help potential artists become active, producing artists as much as I possibly can.

I’ve been painting and crafting since as far back as I can remember. As a fledge ling artist, the thing that was the most difficult for me was finding information on how to build my art business. I always knew that art was what I wanted to do with my life and for a career, but I had no idea how to go about doing this viably, and there was no practical, easy to apply guide on how to do this. So, I’ve made it one of my missions to help other artists learn the business side of being an artist. As far as I’m concerned, the world needs as many successful artists as possible – the more, the merrier!

I teach art classes, volunteer teaching art at my daughter’s school, host art shows and seminars, mentor artists, and run a growing YouTube channel where I teach others my art skills. Art is my life 🙂

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
To be honest, I’m a bit all over the place when it comes to art. I create so much it’s hard to put a label on it, if that makes sense. I paint, in every media including acrylic, oil, watercolor, resin, etc. I draw. I make jewelry, candles, magnets, cards, paint vases and wine glasses. I custom paint furniture and do photography and videography.

My main passion when it comes to art is mixed media and abstract art. I love being able to create beautiful things that can send so many different messages to the viewer. I feel as if everyone will take something different from the painting, and it will affect them in a different way.

I rarely communicate pain in my paintings, though I have done it several times. I prefer to communicate hope and beauty. I believe there is beauty in everything, we just have to find it.

Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
I think now, more than ever, we need more art in the world. The issues don’t generally affect the subject matter of my art as much as the fact that it makes me work harder and faster to create more art and get more people believing in themselves as artists.

I’ve been told by so many of my students and fans that even just watching me create art on YouTube is better than therapy, or that creating art has been the best therapy for them. Can you even imagine if everyone just painted for a bit each day? I’m sure we’d have a lot less of the issues that we have today.

I truly believe we need to get as many people creating art as possible.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can see me create art and can interact with me through my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/mixedmediagirl. There is also my Facebook https://www.facebook.com/MixMediaGirl and my Instagram https://www.instagram.com/mixmediagirl

I do have a website, though I’m in the process of redoing it. It currently is www.beinganartistinla.com but will shortly be switched over to www.mixedmediagirl.com.
