Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynnda Rakos.
Lynnda, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I grew up in Montreal drawing, doodling, reading comic books and watching cartoons. I studied graphic design and moved to Los Angeles, where I started designing children’s clothing. Inspired by my collection of hundreds of vintage toy robots, mid-century art, and popular culture. I created worlds that bring us back to the era when The Flintstones and The Jetsons were primetime. I also love illustrating coloring books and have many.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am very inspired by my pop culture and mid-century design and sometimes bring them together. I love acrylics, watercolor and gouache paint but am loving digital media and then embellishing the artwork with beads, rhinestones and more. My art is very colorful. My work is pop-art portraits.
Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
I have been very influenced by pop culture.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
All my work is on the internet. My art is available for purchase on many websites.
