Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Davis.
Hi Kristin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My siblings and I grew up with an amazing grandmother and mother, who both infused art and creativity in every aspect of our lives. Painting, drawing, sculpting, music, cooking, sewing, crocheting, exploring nature, going to museums, gardening, playing games and always in simple everyday household chores. And because we had so much creative freedom, the entire world became our pallet to choose from.
When I touched clay for the first time with intention, I knew it was something magical. Using my hands to mold and shape a substance that would eventually turn to stone and would live long past my ephemeral life. I fell in L O V E. Like all artists that dream about having a creative space, eventually I was able to carve out a space of my own. A place where I could spend uninterrupted time pouring my feelings, thoughts and emotions into works of art.
Over time, I realized the power of having such a healing space… the connection it gives me with the world. I knew that I must share this gift with others, and that was the genesis of C R E A T I V E C E R A M I C S. Fast forward to the here and now. I am KRISTIN DAVIS, a proud MINORITY, FEMALE, BUSINESS OWNER, and the driving force behind C R E A T I V E C E R A M I C S, a hidden gem right here in Sherman Oaks, California. Where the community has the opportunity to come and play with clay.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I am going to assume starting any business is a rocky road when you do it all by yourself. But you don’t get discouraged, the road becomes a wonderful journey because you feel passionate about your dream. Your dream wakes you up in the morning, follows you around all day long and clings to you as you drift off to sleep at night. It never abandons you. Yes! I did struggle with family members, financial funding, educational goals, colleagues, my business acumen, and health issues… and the list goes on. The truth is, I see the beauty in it all. I love the hard work, the challenge, and the level of persistence it requires of me. I often tell people, “I CO-CREATE WITH THE UNIVERSE” We all do!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
