Check out Kendall Rucks’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendall Rucks.

Kendall, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I grew up in a little beach town in south Florida. I joined a teen pop singing group (developed for Disney) when I was 14 and pursued that for a while – The experience was great but I knew it wasn’t who I was or wanted to do long term. Flash forward to 17, I begin recording and writing an albums worth of music in Nashville with my producer Mike Krompass. Just 2 years ago I met my band in Hollywood and begin recording and playing shows! (: Now we are here! I’m finally starting to release the music I did with Mike and at the same time, also releasing some of the music I’ve written while working with my band. 2020 is gonna be filled with new music and lots of great shows.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I make music for those who desire to feel and embrace every aspect of themselves; the dark the light the good the bad. I believe to have the most rich life possible you need to walk the middle on a line between polarities. So often we are told that certain thoughts are “bad” or we “shouldn’t feel” a certain way. I don’t stray away from taboo topics or ideas because if it’s honest and true, there is no wrong in that. If anything, I would hope to get the listener in touch with themselves more – maybe even surprise themselves. I love a good fantasy and I think my music takes people on that journey with me.

How can artists connect with other artists?
I say just completely emerge yourself within the scene. You gotta get out and go to the venues and unfortunately (for those of us who are a little shy) you will have to talk people. Lol. It happened so quick for me when I just started going out (almost every night) I met and still meet so many incredible musicians and from them have gotten more gigs, collaborated with etc. No community is more loving and accepting then the music community, in my opinion.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Sure!! I’m playing up in the Bay Area Jan 22-26 (locations and tics on my web site) and at The House Of Machines, LA on 2/14 (hopefully along side a super cool rock singer that I can’t yet say) I also play often at the Viper Room Sunset Jam on Monday’s and will start playing the Jam at the Whiskey A Go Go in Feb. With all of that, I’m also releasing lots of new music in 2020 (a song every month or so) so stay tuned!! To know when each release hits, follow me on Spotify, apple and/or soundcloud and feel free to check out existing music on those sites anytime!!
