Check Out Kanaya Hayslet’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kanaya Hayslet.

Hi Kanaya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In November of 2020, I had just finished University of Southern California Master’s in Social Work Program and later on parted ways at my graveyard job at FedEx ground to focus on my career. At the moment of feeling unproductive in my career path and quitting my former job, I had expressed to my mother and sister about my desire to start a swimsuit line. If there was ever a time to pursue another dream and passion now was the time. At this point, Amare Swim concept and vision has continued to grow. Fast forward to present time, not only am I working in my career field, my business and passion is also flourishing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a first-time business owner, I have acknowledged that there will always be bumps in the road as my business continues to grow and expand. I have had support from family along the way but at the core of it, I am a solo female swimpreneur who have dealt with all obstacles singlehandedly on my own. At this point in my business, I don’t have a team yet. Therefore, any challenges that come my way, I have to deal with for the most part on my own. For example, when I first launched my business, I created my own website. There were a lot of technical difficulties that I had never experienced before but I knew I had to learn and fix those issues on my own, which ultimately helped me as a business owner.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As I reflect on my business at this point, a moment that I am proud of is how much I advanced in a short amount of time and realizing that everything I said I was going to do with my business, I have done so far.
