Check out Heejin Park’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heejin Park.

Heejin, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I grew up in Korea and moved to the states when I was 15. My English was pretty bad and I was not ready to study overseas. But I didn’t know how challenging the life in a new country would be so I came and struggled for the first few years. However, I had mother, sister and anime to keep my company! I spend my junior high-high school years in east coast and moved to LA for a college. This was one of the best decisions I made in my life. I met so many great people since I moved to LA! Since I was younger, I always moved to different towns and this is pretty crazy for me to stay in same town for ten years! That never happened to me before.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am working as a color designer at animation studio. When I am working on my personal art, I definitely show my passion about colors, fashion, and interior design. When I work on my own stuff, I do it for fun but at the same time, I want to grow more as an artist. So I constantly think about how much I can push or what kind of direction I could go towards. The last thing I want is to get bored while I am creating art! I usually take that as a sign that I need to try something else. It doesn’t need to be specific emotion but I want people to feel ‘something’ when they see my work.

Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
Personally, I always thought artists had strong impact on a lot of things. There have been both amazing and horrible things happened throughout the history; however, I definitely see different problems as we are facing with changes of the time. As an artist, I hope to continue to contribute to the world in the future as an artist.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I used to post on blogspot and Tumblr pretty often. However, I post most of my artworks on Instagram (@heejin0421) and Twitter(@disi421) now!
