Check out Heather Kahn’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Kahn.

Heather, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Collecting unique pieces & trinkets from flea markets has always been a hobby of mine, as well as jewelry making- so I naturally combined the two. When I began designing, I would incorporate vintage treasures, mix materials, metals and stones to create one-of-a-kind pieces. My business and passion started to grow, so I decided to create a line that still had the unique shapes that I was known for, but could also create more than one piece at a time. Now, I design a new collection for each season, usually inspired by nature and colors that I am attracted to at the time. I have taught myself the art of lost-wax carving, so a whole new world has opened up, and I’m able to be much more free in my work.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Getting started on a collection is the most intensive because there is so much to be inspired by, music, nature, time periods, colors, seasons, travel, etc so I start with a lot on my plate. Then, getting from A to Z is where learning to become a boundless artist and a ruthless editor becomes crucial. My inspiration will vary from collection to collection & hopefully people appreciate something new & exciting each time!

Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
Staying true to your personal vision and not allowing the business end to alter your art too much.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I have a website www.heatherkahn.com and can be found in boutiques countrywide. I have pieces that have been featured online at Free People, Anthropologie, and Peruvian Connection.
