Check Out Hailley Howard’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailley Howard.

Hi Hailley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I had a camera in my hand at an early age and I was always telling stories. Through words on my old typewriter or in my diary and through pictures – either magazine clippings or pictures I’d taken myself with an old point and shoot or disposable camera. I found myself transfixed in the stories of others; my Mother’s tales of her youth or strangers on the street. I would watch the world around me and I couldn’t wait to amass my own collection of memories and captured moments.

I was traveling around the country in an old VW camper van when I realized that photography was my passion and that it was something I was ready to pursue wholeheartedly. As soon as the decision was made, it was as if the whole Universe conspired in helping my career come into fruition. I had never experienced this kind of passion, this fire ablaze underneath me, for anything else before. I found myself through this path: driven, inspired, strong and confident. I found MY voice in my relationship with creating.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Many photographers have chosen a niche for their career. I never did and I still haven’t. Instead, when someone asks what my niche is, I tell them that my career is dedicated to the exploration of authenticity and intimacy.

I am a creative but I am also an entrepreneur and for me, it didn’t make sense to define an area of focus for my path. I built my career up, stone by stone and dollar by dollar. When I am shooting something that doesn’t inspire me the same way as other things might, I look to my client for the inspiration to create or capture something for them that is truly meaningful. For me, that is almost as fulfilling as diving into a passion project.

Because I carved my own path in this industry, I’ve found some roadblocks in career progression, stuck somewhere between being an artist and a business owner. But these challenges have invited me to grow my patience and cultivate a trust within myself that I am the master of my own Universe. Staying in business through the Pandemic has put me face-to-face with my fears of failure or financial doom. Coming out the other end, I am reminded that perseverance is priceless and all you need is faith and determination.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a photographer and a producer. The producer hat is all encompassing: casting, creative direction, styling and in general: GETTING SHIT DONE! Adding the producer role to my “title” is a more honest representation of how I run my business and how I manage the creative process. I am proud of being able to build a client’s vision from conception; manage the nitty-gritty and the creative and have a complete product at the end that I can stand by 100%. If someone needs something done, I will make it happen. If someone has a grand idea and they don’t know where to begin, I will hold their hand through the process and lead them to a finished product.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am open and GAME. You can follow me on Instagram to get an idea as to how my world looks and you can email me with your project ideas and from there, the magic begins!
