Check out Genevieve Anders’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Genevieve Anders.

Genevieve, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I never knew I would become a photographer. I had been modeling professionally since the age of seventeen and only saw that as my future. I did have a canon power shot that I loved taking photos of my dogs with and one year received a DSLR as a Christmas gift. I started practicing with dog photos, (of course) and then joined a photography group on Flickr that changed my life. I did the 365 project and at first, my photos sucked. By the end, they were actually pretty decent.

Everyone in the group was so supportive and helpful. Not only did I have to learn my camera, I had to learn to edit as well. Anything I needed to know, I asked the group or I googled. I cried so many frustrated tears, but am proud to say I am a self-taught photographer. My friend had a baby and asked me to come over and take some photos. Shockingly they turned out great! People saw her photos and started asking me to photograph their families. My friends told me to start a website (I thought they were crazy) and then my business was created!

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a natural light lifestyle photographer. I absolutely love being a photographer. I love hanging out with my clients and taking their photos. I love directing them and being creative. I seriously have the best job in the world. Through my photos I want people to see how much I love taking them. I am all about candid and natural and I think that comes through in my photos.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Success to me is seeing how much my business is thriving. When I have to refer out to other photographers because I am booked already. Success is reading those emails or reviews about how much my client loves their photos and how when they saw them, they actually cried.
