Check out Earnest Marshall’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Earnest Marshall.

Earnest, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I am a Chicago native that grew up on the Southside of Chicago. From a very young age I had a passion for theater, but because of the circumstances, those opportunities weren’t offered to people growing up in the south side.

The events of 9/11 were pivotal in my decision to join the military and serve my country. I served three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as an infantryman. Although it was of the most difficult decisions I’ve had to make in my life, I realized that the only way for me to pursue my dream was to ETS (exit the service).

I quit my job, and with 2,000 dollars in my pocket, I headed to Los Angeles to start the next chapter of my life. Like any amateur just starting out in the business, my first stop was central casting (lol yep, you heard right).

I began doing background work and started to book bigger projects. I got my big break when I booked a reality show for NBC’s The Island with Bear Grylls. Since then I have continued to book roles for big networks such as NBC, Fox, Discovery, Adult Swim Buzzfeed, ABC and ID Discovery. “Welcome to the grind” as I always say.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My art is to entertain by playing roles that will make people laugh, cry, smile, and get lost in the moment with me. I want peoples imagination to become a reality.

Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
Social media has made it a lot easier to express yourself and use your talents to further your career as artists. Its another platform with just a click on “post” to showcase what you’ve got for the world to see in an instant. I would like to see public schools be more open to more programs in the arts and encourage acting and theater. It not only provides emotional release in a healthy way but it can open kids minds to the endless possibilities.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I try to keep my social media up to date on all my projects. I like to bring people along for the ride and get a glimpse of my crazy entertaining life.
